Re: gc

I've always wanted to bring my micron to guitarcenter and plug it into the shelf of guitar pedals they have; so I could try them all out but I think they'd get angry...and I gave up on the idea of asking if I could move a synth over...everybody would look at me like "wtf"... what they did for me is...

also

by the way all 3 are great pedals and i highly recommend them. the BD-2 does a thick distortion, more complex than the DS-1 which i've also tried, and with the "mod" button on the delay engaged, i can do a big bass sound with a mere jx-3p. i also run the nord electro through them, and the rhodes is ...

guitar pedal overload

I recently got three new guitar pedals: the BD-2, the holy grail reverb, and the MXR carbon copy for delay. I don't have a meter or an oscilloscope or anything, so i just wanted to know the order of the amplitude of the voltage that leaves my JX-3P. Is it OK to run directly through all these pedals?...

quick sample playback during performance: S5000?

I have many audio segments (long sometimes) that I want to map to a keyboard to load quickly during performance in a rock band. Is there new hardware that does this well, something with a big hard drive, that does just this? I was thinking maybe an Akai S5000, but two negative things stand out: -too...

Forget getting a synth. For ambient, you need some effects processing, and in particular, reverb. My recommendation? Lexicon LXP-15 II. It's from the late 80s, and can be had used for as little as ~$200. (That's what I paid on eBay.) Lush sound, and arguably better than later MPX-series boxes. For ...

on purely digital side of things.. waldorf XT is fantastic. u could pull off a whole album with it.. tho i like running it thru extra analog fx like space echo or analog filtering. for example: http://www.babic.com/SYN/XT/clc_XT_space_echo.mp3
Those are great sounds.

after two months with a korg Z1...

The only synths I had up to two months ago were the Nord Electro 2 and the JX-3P, plus software. I did extensive research on synths because I wanted a bigger synth with more sounds to be the main synth in my studio, and I got a korg Z1 for $600 (mistake at the time I think to pay that much). Honestl...

hmmm

haven't used that many soft synths, but honestly i love the sounds that can be made from Pentagon I. the arturia moog modular V has some stomach as well, but is a little disappointing.
