Re: Drum n bass: and the bass is heavy!

I liked it, I must say however I kept thinking a hi-pass filter was going to be turned off.

Re: Poll: your musical influence for interest in synthesizers

As if the original poster weren't in enough trouble, I'd like to say I feel like there is an unspoken judgement about "dance music" being "non-experimental" and "generic" in the original poll. I for one despise that judgement. When someone makes a track with a heavy kick drum it doesn't necessarily ...

Re: FM8. Better than DX7?? Save me some money...

I have both FM8 and a TX81Z, and I still use the TX81Z because it's a different instrument with a different sound. It clearly isn't the "hardware" part that's exciting, because I use software to program it. It's an instrument on its own, and I guess it can sound more gritty than FM8. I owned FM8 bef...

Re: juno 60 vs jx3p vs polysix.

Even with the shitty but silly-fun interface, the JX blows away all non-two-osc DCO 80s polysynths.I've never had a Polysix, but from what I've heard, the VCOs are nice. You've got to ask yourself, though... is that nice sound going to trump functionality for you? :::shrugs::: Right because even if...

Re: how do u record ur drum machine?

Depends on what sound I'm going for. Recently I've done : 808 and 909 samples on the computer --> analog filter --> analog compressor --> interface. Then I've added software effects such as reverb. Nice result, but I am looking for a drum machine to replace the computer samples, because programming ...

Modular question

If I want to buy a filter from a modular series, what is the power plug like (or do I even need one?) I don't need a case do I?
Thanks in advance.

Re: An original track

Thanks.. I used only samples and filters one this one. The percussion is a kick drum sample run through cassette deck and then filtered. The synth sounds are waveforms from the cs-80 and buchla, through Ableton's filter.

MFB stuff is just so cheap and flimsy that I would be hesitant to pick this up.

What makes you say that? I have had my 502 going on 3-4 years and it has not had any issues whatsoever
I had an MFB-503 for a few days which was definitely flimsy.

Re: Minimoog drum sampling

I don't want to enter the software vs. hardware debate, but I sample Arturia Minimoog V drum sounds into my S3000XL with very nice results.

Best bass ever..and from a free synth

I am amazed by the bass sound that the Tal-U-No free vst can produce. I started using it as a background synth, but the bass from this with a little bit of compression (software as well) is amazing.
