Re: wow...software through hardware
This is one of the reasons I use to justify keeping my monosynths. :) Only thing is, most of mine have oscillator bleedthrough of varying degrees, so it's something to watch out for. I was amazed at how easily the Moog Voyager filter input can overdrive if you give it a hot signal from an audio int...

wow...software through hardware
There's been a lot of talk about sending softsynths through hardware filters, and today I was messing around with sending TR-808 samples from my computer to the filter on my SH-09, and with sending a patch from the Moog Modular V softsynth through the filter as well...and man that sounded just great...

Re: Noisy Roland SH-09
Are you getting a hum, or a crackling noise? If it's a hum, it's interference from the wall plug, or if it's a higher pitch it can come from the computer. Try changing rooms or touching the case with a paper clip to see if it changes anything. I have a SH-09 that had an internal problem at some poin...

Re: Some thoughts on using a JX-3P in a mix.
second, use a sidechain compression on pads, not much, 2dB of GR at most, controlled by drum bus or kick/snare combination. sits better in the mix, without draining all otehr instruments in "soup". Thanks for the advice, and this brings up a question I've been asking myself. I have an RNC compresso...

Some thoughts on using a JX-3P in a mix.
This was my first synth and I've had it for a few years now. These days, I still use it, but I have a sort of love-hate relationship with it. I read, and use to think, that it is good for pads. Unfortunately, I cannot get a good pad sound out of it, with any amount of Eq or effects (or at least a pa...

And in his 80's band called "Seona Dancing"...Ricky Gervais!? I think you can hear the tubular bells near the end.

Re: Headphones - what do you use?
http://gradolabs.com/09_images/sr80i.png These have a fantastic frequency response all over, surprisingly good considering the price. Plus it kind of feels like you're a radio worker during world war II when you wear them. Have had the previous generation SR-80's for 6 years now and love them still...

Or dinosaurs, or something in that evolutionary family. I tried to capture the loneliness of the natural world, the violence of natural forces... Or maybe it was just the acid. Jk. Definately went for an open-minded, impulsive thing here... Not to be taken too seriously. This is a rough draft progra...
