A couple rough drafts

I've had more time to make music recently, and here are a couple weird things that came out of my free time this winter. http://hughthomas.bandcamp.mu/ I guess the top track is more reminiscent of the part of my life spent in Europe, while the bottom track is pure California flava (except for the Dj...

Re: Mixing down at the right level....

Ah well, I exported using the normalize feature in Live before reading your post Stab, but this is what came out: http://hughthomas.bandcamp.mu/ The volume ratios between the tracks seem the same as those I set during mixing.. I guess I don't really understand how you get more volume during masterin...

Mixing down at the right level....

Ok so have a track that I want to mix down. The sequences are in Live, all the hardware and prerecorded tracks go through a hardware mixer and I'm feeding the main outs of the mixer to my Ultralite, mixing down to a "master track" in Live. I want to have a full volume mixdown and yet I want to minim...

Re: The gear I've had during the years...

Wow I don't know how I would wrap my head around owning so much gear, as for myself I just own (and hopefully can stay happy with for a while): JX-3P SH-09 S-3000XL TX81Z ESQ-1 (which I never use anymore) and sold a Korg Z1. I make a lot of sounds in massive and send them to the sampler. I make a lo...

I liked that a lot. I found it quite intimate, and like TrondC said, reminiscent of the cold.......

SH-09 bad contacts?

I just received an SH-09 from the Ebay and when a key is pressed or released, a short noise can be heard in the output. Otherwise it sounds good, but this problem is somewhat bothersome...I was wondering if that is easy to fix or if I should send it back to the seller (who didn't mention it in the a...

Re: Thought I could get away with sampled waveforms

Yep, don't give up on samplers yet. I agree with Sir Ruff, that you just need a sampler with analog filters, preferably a resonant one. Sample memory is horrid, but waveforms are milliseconds long. I've recorded some samples. I sampled the minikorgs saw and square waves and made various patches. Ig...

Re: Thought I could get away with sampled waveforms

I got myself a nice S3000XL a few months ago, and, seeing there were analog waveforms (or course digitally sampled, but hey I'll have to record digitally eventually, and this machine has a great sound to it...) I thought hey I don't need to buy more synths since this cool sampler has EG's, LFO's, f...
