BTW - As a non Juno owner I'm loving all the sound files you guys are posting of your Juno's. Out of the three - 6, 60, 106.. which would you guys recommend for my first?

With the latest A-Station OS update, the A-Station and K-Station are functionally identical AFAIK. The A-Station was my first synth. I'm pretty familiar with it and I know they can be had for less than $150 these days but if you are considering an A-Station then my advice is to check out a Xiosynth...

May be a bit too introductory but Handmade Electronic Music by Nicolas Collins is a great primer. You can use alot of the projects in the book (such as the simple oscillators) as starters for your own more complex instruments or experiments. Additionally I'd suggest something like a Paia Fatman as a...

Great idea! I'm struggling to come up with nice deep strings, so if someone could post some, and tell me how they went about it, that would really help. What effects do you guys use for strings? I'll put together something, and post it up in a few days! Check out this album by Danny Wolfers (legowe...

ah, playing favorites... of the gear i've had my hands on - keys: CS-01 sequencer: 777 sampler: repeater drum machine: 808 Would you really rank a CS-01 that high? They always looked a bit simpler too me, although I haven't had a chance to play one... The prices they go for seem to be more reasonab...

http://www.vintagesynth.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=29271&highlight=synth Anyway, I don't understand flat out _favorites_, as in, "better than anything else out there", in art. Every synth, like all things in art, has its own niche and charm, and no synth contains them all (otherwise the first state...

I had been thinking of getting rid of my MPD24 recently, so decided to fire it up with some soft synths and see what I could get going. I wound up messing with Battery and was pretty amazed. I loaded a bunch of drum machine samples and tweaked tweaked tweaked. My previous times trying to dive into B...

[quote="Huppo"]My best drum stuff comes from FLS too. I sometimes load up real loops as audio then duplicate them in the step sequencer using samples I like, but I usually just use the step sequencer. quote] That's what I like about FL is how quick it is to get nice sounding drum loops, ie. timestre...

Alesis Micron

I've been thinking about grabbing a new MIDI controller and was looking at the Akai MPK49 but for about the same price (if not less) I could grab a Micron. So instead of just a fancy control I could cop something that makes noise as well.. My questions and reasons for posting this are thus, What do ...

Wow, did a search for TFM and came across THIS LINK ... Looks like there's a few trackers that emulate Genesis/Mega Drive chips. Pretty dope!! They all look similar to Mod2PSG2. Some of the music people are able to make in trackers like these is amazing! Trackers still baffle me, I just can't get in...

The closest thing I've found is Mod2PSG2 which is a tracker that emulates the Yamaha SN76489 chip used in Sega Master System and Game Gear systems. Found this tidbit on the Genesis entry on Wikipedia, "The FM sound synthesis IC resembles the Yamaha YM2151 (used in Sega's coin-op machines) and the ch...
