Best midi controller for my proteus 2500

Hi Guys....could you recommend the best midi controller for my emu proteus 2500. I am not using any laptop or software. I just want to be able to send midi data to my Atari with knob adjustments. I need something very basic and not a massive board as I have little space. Any advise welcome thank you.

Yamaha PSS580 midi cc messages

HI all.....I'm wanting to record my proteus 2500 knob movements into my Atari but I'm not getting anything back. Would I be right in saying that I think it could be my basic YAmaha PSS580 s fault as It may not be sending midi cc messages out to my Atari. I have set every possible receive on, on the ...

Proteus 2500 recording knob movements

Hi Guys...just got a proteus 2500 rack the other day...but with no manual. I would like to be able to hear the knob adjustments I make when I record into my Atari via midi. At present I am turning the knobs in the hope that I hear the movements on playback but no difference to the sound itself. What...

Re: Swing on tr707 maximum

Thanks Meatball....Really appreciate your explanations. I'm trying to work with hardware only...no MPC stuff just the TR drummies to get authentic results. When I listen to most house even early chicago house the hi hats are so so close to the kick, in order to get that speed going in the track. I w...

Re: Swing on tr707 maximum

Very interesting stuff......I'm thinking that at the time of the TRs were there sequencers even around then that could do this. The 707 cannot be programmed over a sequencer either, so I guess that you either put up with the swing you got or employed another drummie... There is not much in it when I...

Re: Swing on tr707 maximum

Cheers

Re: Swing on tr707 maximum

Well...when I listen to house music I hear a hi hat very close to the kick drum in about 90% of house music...back in the day people only had the tr707 and I guess they relied heavily on this swing to get the speed of a track vibing along. I guess now we tend to use a Daw to draw the hi hats in and ...

Swing on tr707 maximum

Hi guys...would you say that the roland swing setting of a maximum of 5 is good enough to get the hi hat as close to the kick drum for dance music / house....it sounds pretty close and it can't be bettered I guess if using hardware.
But is having a DAW a lot better.

Best casio keyboard for PCM

I'm looking for a synth relatively cheap that will give out basic instrument sounds that can be modulated in some way...example being CT 470 Casio comes close but is there anything better out there that I'm missing..

I really don't want to sample..

Cheers

Re: Tr707 programming into Atari

I get two little indicators that bounce up and down when I play my notes from a synth to tell me that it's hearing the notes...when I link it in the same way to my 707 these do not move anymore.

I can't understand as I have a casio rz1 and I have no problem with that mapping my notes...

Tr707 programming into Atari

Hi All...I have a Tr707 and I wish my Atari with an early version of cubase to sequence all my drum sounds from the 707..... It seems that when I go to midi it up in the same way for a synth with simple in out midi cables to and from..the Atari sequencer does not hear them.....the I/O levels do not ...

Re: Opinions on upcoming TR-808 and SH-101 Boutiques

Think they've made a right pigs ear of the SH,what a mess. However I do like the TR08 and it will sit well with my TR09 and I lack space anyway so for me ideal. I agree with the last post in I think that roland want to give us a hardware experience in a software form. I think that because a lot of V...

Re: Which synth should i get

I would second the waldorf unit as me nearest thing available. I saw an Arp omni 1 for spares or repair for real cheap and got it back to new again...it's a fantastic synth and I believe that the earliest albums were done on the 1 and not the 2...they have a very sad sound to them. I had to have all...

Algorithms in general DX reface

I'm rather new to this FM stuff...but am trying at least...I'm currently using a yamaha DX reface which has 12 algorithms available...I seen to find that the higher the algo the thinner the sound seems to get. I'm playing around with the synth and depending what preset I start off with I'm ending up...
