Re: Yamaha DX7 line VS Yamaha SY77
robotunes summed it up nicely. The SY77 is a total beast. I will never sell mine. If you can find one, try to get an SY99. The effects section is better and you can load samples (albeit with extreme memory limitations).

Re: Arturia AE 61 or M-Audio Axiom Pro
Yes, and it's not the best for that kind of playing. When I need to play acoustic or electric piano parts, I use my Privia. The action is great and it has USB MIDI, which makes it easy to connect to the computer.

Re: Arturia AE 61 or M-Audio Axiom Pro
I have not played the M-Audio but I've been very unimpressed with their keyboards in the past. That cheap 88 key "weighted" controller they released (can't recall the name) was a POS. I own the ReMOTE SL mkII as well. Mine has held up just fine even through some light touring. I also have the Arturi...

Re: Nord Electro 3/4D vs. Hammond SK1 vs. Korg SV1
Thanks for the clarification. Here's my opinion: The SK1 is a better organ simulator (clonewheel). The drawbars are a necessity for my playing; that might not be important to you. And the 4D has drawbars now, too. But I still think, personally, the SK1 is the better Hammond sound. The electric piano...

Re: Nord Electro 3/4D vs. Hammond SK1 vs. Korg SV1
I'm a bit confused because of the three keyboards you listed in the thread title, only the SV1 is an actual stage piano. Are you looking for a stage piano, with a full weighted 88 keys that also does some other sounds or are you looking for an organ simulator that also does piano sounds? Those are t...

Re: Is this the infamous DX-7 "Rhodes" sound?
The DX7 was my first synthesizer. It's true, the classic FM electric piano sound was overused but you have to put it in context. A real Rhodes is heavy, has to be tuned and maintained, and oh yeah it's heavy! A DX7 was lightweight, touch sensitive, and digital FM synthesis can be programmed to respo...

Re: Suggestions for a good Preamp/Interface?
That is a great unit and I love mine as well but it's only a good suggestion for the OP if his laptop has firewire, hence my questions. Since he's not returned, I guess it's not that important.Pro5 wrote:Yamaha/Steinberg MR816X![]()
That is quality (for the price!)
Love it!

Re: Suggestions for a good Preamp/Interface?
There's a huge thread about the Minibrute here. General consensus is good.
What DAW are you using? How many inputs do you need to record at once? Does your laptop have firewire or is it USB only?

Re: Pre-CS80 Vangelis in his studio clip
So obviously he had a modified B3. Is it just run through massive amounts of effects or is it triggering something else? It doesn't sound like a Hammond at all.

Re: video rundown of Derek Sherinian's keyboard rig
Strange to describe the Solaris as analog. It's all digital. I'm sure it sounds great; I'd love to mess with one. I played a Kronos at West LA music for awhile. That's a very versatile board. For the studio it's always nice to use the real stuff, which is why I have a real B3, Rhodes, Wurli, and ana...

I have a Mopho Keyboard. I like the yellow. It's different. That said, I'm seriously considering selling it to fund an X4.

Way more interesting than the MiniBrute, imo.

The last one that wasn't working sold for almost $2k so I wouldn't expect a great deal.
