Re: SPARK Vintage Drum Machines

I have it. Sounds great. Interface is a bit weird but as I spend more time with it I'm sure it will become second nature.

Re: Yamaha EX5 Questions.

There's a guy selling the latest OS ROMs on eBay. I ordered a pair from him but have yet to install them in my EX5r. Look for one with the SCSI card and FLASH RAM installed.

Re: Should I replace the caps in my SY77?

Ah, thanks for the clarification. When I have time to replace the push-buttons, I'll look for tants and replace them.

Re: Should I replace the caps in my SY77?

It has been the process of restoring my CS50 that made me consider my SY77. The CS50 needed every electrolytic replaced; most were bulging and others, once removed, showed signs of leakage (thankfully not bad enough to harm surrounding components or the PCB). It made me wonder if I should just do pr...

Should I replace the caps in my SY77?

I'm not having any issues with my trusty SY77, but I've had the old girl since 1991 or so. I replaced the belt in the floppy, the old screen, some broken keys, and I ordered new push buttons to replace the ones that are intermittent. I know electrolytic caps have a life span of around 15 years. Shou...

Re: Has Anyone Fitted a CF Card to their Old SCSI Sampler?

I've done it with my Yamaha EX5r, which makes the sampling function worthwhile. Otherwise it's so slow as to be damn near unusable (loading and saving). Once I figured out the DIP switches on the CF reader through trial and error, it works great.

It's the best hand's down. And it can do the transistor organ thing, too.

Re: What defines a digital or analogue circuit?

I define digital as software based sound generation/manipulation requiring a DAC to communicate with the outside world and analog as all other methods. It doesn't matter how you define it. That doesn't change what it actually is. My estimation of this thread? Some people need to learn about electro...

Re: What defines a digital or analogue circuit?

Wait, people argue about s**t they don't understand on the internet? When did this happen? :) I think the first line of the wikipedia entry on "digital" explains it rather succinctly: A digital system[1] is a data technology that uses discrete (discontinuous) values. By contrast, non-digital (or ana...

As mentioned earlier, read The Art of Electronics. Then come back to this thread in a few years when you understand it. :)

Re: Goodbye DSI Mono Evolver

I played with a friend's MEK a few times and I definitely would like one; I've considered selling the Mopho Keyboard to fund the purchase. I like the Mopho Keyboard a lot but the MEK is more flexable / unique. But I'd really love a PEK.

Re: high end headphone extension cables

So you're actually having to move the tracks you overdub? Are you hearing that delay in the headphones while tracking or is it only after it's recorded? Because those are two separate issues.

Re: Your Arturia secrets please...

I only wish Arturia would release a patch that let us change the screen resolution. The CS-80V is great but the interface is so fricking small and tight packed that you click on the wrong buttons all the time. If you could double the size it still wouldn't take up half the screen space. Totally agr...
