Re: MacBeth M5 Korg Kronos 73 sell it?

Well I do live mortgage free (the perks of being in an older age bracket). I doubt anyone around here (Nova Scotia) would buy an M5 if they were offered one and shipping is a pain and I'm a bit lazy. However, if someone showed up with a wad of cash and started counting out the bills, I'd be tempted ...

Re: Jon Anderson/Yes mystery keyboard

I posted this question on a JA fan site and it could be a bass synth like an early Moog Taurus (uses foot pedals for keyboard) on a table, and suggests that's why the oversize keys.

Re: MacBeth M5 Korg Kronos 73 sell it?

The M5 is a unique and wonderful sounding analog synth. I've had similar emotions in the past and sold stuff(Andromeda, Minimoog Model D, Tascam 388 and JD800 that I regret to this day. I have a system I use whenever I get the urge to "clean house", and that is I put it somewhere in storage, maybe ...

Re: MacBeth M5 Korg Kronos 73 sell it?

After a conversation with the man himself, Ken told me the M5 I have is #36 of 60. The M5N went on to replace the M5 and I believe 60 were made of those. I do like the Element and figured that would replace the M5 if I needed to. I'm just not using the M5 that much. But, and that's a big but, that M...

MacBeth M5 Korg Kronos 73 sell it?

Okay, I'm having a musical crisis of sorts. Should I sell these to keep my life more compact and simple? I have too much gear, methinks and the big pieces are taking up a lot of room. The M5, however, is a glorious piece of kit, but I have a couple of other analogues that are in storage. The Kronos ...

Re: synths as investment

In some ways, we are lucky in our neck of the woods in the sense that there's not much market for 'expensive' or boutique synths either for play or investments. That's probably part of the reason I got a MacBeth M5 for 3.5k and a Kronos 73 for $1000. I see nothing wrong with someone taking an old sy...

Roland VT-3 Aira Voice Transformer

So I bought one of these mainly because I like the way my voice sounded through the reverb. I don't do EDM so I would use the FX voices in a limited way. I think it's a great mic pre amp if nothing else and an easy way for a vocalist to adjust their sound on the spot. It's built well and the sliders...

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

Update: I put the LNA resitor on the new fan and I'm much happier! I had the Kronos on for about three hours last night after a jam, I didn't even remember it was still on as it made no discernible physical sound from the fan. I'm not saying I'd reccomend this, but it worked for me. Now, I'll see if...

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

The new fan is only a tad quieter. My repair guy said we could knock the fan to half speed and see. If the specs still match, cooling wise, that might be the trick, but I have a feeling it won't be. Another potential issue the tech found was there's no protective case around the power supply. If it ...

Re: Ever been tempted to sell everything and buy a Korg Kron

I bought a second hand Kronos 73 for $1000. Prices are falling. I believe part of the reasons were the OS buggery (most of that has been sorted), the rh3 key beds (I didn't have that issue) and the noisy fan. I"m not sure if all Kronos fans have a loudness problem, but my fan bugs me to the point th...

Re: If you had $1000 what would you buy?

A 2nd hand Kronos, which is what I did. Wish I could find one for a grand, that's a steal :) I've seen completed items on eBay for even less! The Kronos is notoriously 'buggy' in some. Early reports with problems include sustain (software), key beds Rh3, loud fans and suspect build (knobs falling o...
