Re: Ridiculous eBay 'Buy-it-now' and starting bids.

A ridiculous listing in our local kijijii listed a korg Kronos 73 for $1200! Really. I wasn't going to follow this up, but a friend of mine encouraged me. I was in contact with the seller and he was a film soundtrack guy from the US who was moving back and needed to shed some weight for travel. I wa...

Moog VX-351 to MacBeth M5 help

What is the best way to take advantage of the VX-351 as a controller to the M5? I've figured out the basics, gate CV for keyboard pitch but I'd like to have a basic setup/connection (first position) that would be the most flexible for playing the M5 from the Moog Voyager using the VX-351. Ironically...

Re: My DX21 is showing japanese junk

Sounds like a battery issue. Here's a youtube video that shows how to do replace an internal battery. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VF3cbyVfy9I However there's something about this video that bothers me. I had a similar battery holder in my Roland JP8000, and I didn't have to desolder and solder up...

Re: Synth prices and inflation

Back in the day, an hours pay of minimum wage could net you about 3 to 4 packs of cigarrettes. Now you can't even get a half a pack for the same. A Peugot 504 in 1978 costs about $4000. A beer costs at university 3 for $1, in 1977. Maybe my point, if any, is that some things costs more, some are wor...

Voyager Expansion with VX-351 CV help

I scored a Moog VX-351 CV Expander. It comes with a circuit board chip that needs to be installed. Anyone do this? Is it easy? Should I get a pro to do it? I live in Nova Scotia and there aren't any service for Moog's east of Montreal (1000km). I don't want to send it away and if I can't do it, I'll...

Re: Roland Sh-1000 Good deal for $500? And other questions.

Yes. I have one. I'm probably one of the few people who think the SH 1000 is worth more, at least $1000! I feel it's been undervalued by a lot of sellers. It is after all, the very first Japanese commercial synth ever made. it's historical importance puts value on it, in my book. By the way, i didn'...

Re: How many of you still have your first synth?

I do. It is an ARP Explorer 1. However, it got dropped and a circuit board got cracked. It no longer works but I did immortalize it on my first record. Here is a link. The song was recorded in 1980 and published 1981.

Don't know, good point. Good luck! Let us know how this was resolved, please, in case it happens to me and/or another JP 8000 user.

Synth not working? Flashing display?

First, replace the memory battery and see what happens.

So many people think their gear has gone 'tits up' when something like this occurs when it simply may mean it needs a battery replacement. Just sayin'...

Re: Roland JP8000 major distortion in all outputs

Try replacing the battery again. Maybe it burnt out faster than the last one. If it still does the distortion, then I'm out of my league with any other advice. I have a JP8000 too. For a VA, it's very nice.

Re: Future Retro - Orb

This has been out for some time now, and I was wondering: 1.) how many of you have/use one (or more) 2.) how intuitive is it 3.) will it play well with my gear * see list in signature Thanks for the feedback! 1. I have one 2. 6/10 3. yes It also has the function to act as a MIDI to CV controller an...
