Re: Broken Yamaha DX7II-D Video

This sounds like a classic case of needing the internal battery replaced. It's the size of a watch battery and holds the memories of the presets etc. When the internal battery goes, the synth goes all wonky, like yours did. Ask the person you got this from if that was ever done. Here's a youtube vid...

Re: New Moog

Waiting for a $400 Moog synth is as silly as waiting for a $4000 Lamborghini..it'll never happen. Well, anything is possible and I'm constantly surprised by some of the unexpected stuff in the synth world. For instance, I never thought Korg could put out a $50 analogue synthesizer, but they did. Th...

Re: What's ok to use as synth speakers?

I just bought a TV soundbar for my 22" Samsung and realized the soundbar is the perfect dimensions to set on top if my MacBeth M5 Modular. I'm not sure if a 'soundbar' is an appropriate suggestion for a synth speaker, but it sounds better than any ARP 2600 speakers, for example. here's a pic: [thumb...

Is this ridiculous or merely interesting?

Re: Are there any "extinct" synthesizers?

I haven't seen many of these around altough to be fair, it's probably a shell for an ARP 2500.

Re: LuSH 101 Multi Timbral Synth

If it were a hardware synth, I'd consider it but as it stands, no.

Re: Analog sampler?

Mellotrom is an analogue sampler. Just replace the tapes as needed (takes a couple of hours to a day)/ http://www.mellofest.com/MelloFest%201%20Pix%20Lo-Res/Mellotron%202%20-%20FH.JPG Laurie Anderson strung tape on her violun bow and a magnetic tape head on the violin. That's a sampler (kind of). ht...

Re: Are there any "extinct" synthesizers?

I don't believe there are 'extinct' synthesizers but there are extinct synth players. Is the RCA 1950s synth extinct, or is it being cared for somewhere? There are a few 'endangered' synths, I think.

Re: Macbeth or Telemark?

Hey there guys I'm looking for an affordable and easy to use modular to have. I'm really interested into getting a Telemark but they are quite pricey seeming towards how I'm going to get my first part time job sometime, so is the Macbeth M5 cheaper and which one would be easier for a beginner to us...
