Re: voyager performer vs old school

I couldn't have said this better and I'm 100% in agreement. If my Voyager wasn't signed by Bob, I'd trade it towards an OS Voyager just to challenge me, via necessity, to create my own patches which can be archived by patch sheets. I'd like to believe that I have magical powers, but I don't. It's po...

Re: Well now I've done it - I'm a synth collector - patch he

I found an interesting trick with my JP 8000. I use it to control a Korg M3 module and many of the sliders and controllers seem to affect some of the parameters of the M3. I haven't tried the JP 8000 MIDIed to a DX7, but I wonder if something similar would happen. Might be a shortcut for you.

Re: Macbeth or Telemark?

I have a MacBeth M5 and I've seen them go for $1800 to as much as $8000. If you can find a MacBeth for around $3500 or less, it'd be worth it. Do you have a line on one?

Re: Teenage OP-1 vs Korg Prophecy vs M-Audio Venom

I haven't tried the OP-1 but I've watched a lot of videos and listened to a lot of audio. It's a very cool synth but I don't like the small keys. It would be a good addition, but I can't see it as an only synth unless that's the kind of thing and size you want. I tried the Venom. It's okay but I fou...

Re: Moog Voyager v/s MacBeth M5

It's a hypothetical rather than practical question. Something that has been on my mind for a while. When the answer manifest, I'll know it, I suppose. For now I'm doing nothing at least until someone shows up at my door with a wheel barrow full of money. well you could definitely get a lot more mone...

Re: Moog Voyager v/s MacBeth M5

Which do you play more? That's a difficult one. I use the Moog in a section of my studio that has a workstation and a sequencer. So if I have a pad going or a groove, the Moog is handy to contribute. If I'm into some long electronic meditation thing using the M5, playing with a sequence, and or the...

Re: Moog Voyager v/s MacBeth M5

.... Did you actually meet him when it got it's signature? No I didn't. It's a signature edition Voyager with certificate of athenticity (also signed by Bob), special Moog badge luminous wheels, soft shell Voyager gig bag and gooseneck lamp. I bought it second hand from eBay, from a fellow Canadian...

No, not the XL. Was Bob Moog even alive when the XL came out? I can't remember.

Moog Voyager v/s MacBeth M5

This is more of an interllectual exercise than anything else. If I had to get rid of one of these synths, which one? Both are in the same $ ball field when purchased. Also, I use a Korg Prophecy and a Kenton as a MIDI to CV controller so lack of keyboard is not an issue. MacBeth M5 pros: patchabilit...

Re: Roland's greatest synth?

Roland's greatest synth eh? I'm going to say a Roland SH 1000. Why? It was the first Japanese commercial synth ever available and paved the way for all the other Roland synths to follow. It may not have all the complexities of the later ones, but it was the first. http://www.synhouse.com/SH-1000-Not...

MacBeth M5N & MacBeth Olive MX3 "These two units are my personal M5N and Olive M3X synths...! Sadly with production etc I have decided to put them up for sale as space is now a requirement! I'm asking for £4995.00 for the M5N and £1495.00 for the Olive M3X- it was the last one in production. Anyone ...

Not sure if it's ridiculous or interesting, maybe both.
