What was the first synth you ever bought?

A pic would be nice too...

Mine was an Arp Explorer in 1979.

What turned you on to electronic/synth music?

For me it was a series of 'Switched On Records' like 'Switched On Bach' by W. Carlos. I used to play those gems on maximum volume on my Dad's old Leak Stereo. http://www.uh.edu/engines/switchedonbach.jpg http://users.skynet.be/dada/galleryq/wall/jpeg/goldmarty_moogbeatles_2.jpg http://waxidermy.com/...

Yeah, but we have been together for damn ever now. I used an ounce of prevention and decided to date a girl that wasnt a controlling, neurotic, obsessive, insecure harpy. She is more than allowed to use feminine charms to manipulate me, but coming at me headfirst, nagging, and bossing would not end...

I wish I had tried the 707 when it came out. It reminds me of the Prophecy a bit.

What was your experience with the 707?

You mean this one? http://www.proun.net/img/korg/korg_x911_broch.JPG Never heard of it before although I think synth museum reviewers rate it fairly high. I tend to like Korg products a lot although the last batch of new Korg synths seem to be made in China, which makes me wonder whether they are as...

ah yeah thats more complex than the ms2000 for sure - what? you're crazy. ms2000 has much more going on. both synths are deep tho, and im not doggin on the prophecy.. i used to own one and often miss it.. but to say the ms2000 is thin in comparison or to say the prophecy is more 'complex' is just c...

Speech Synth piece done w/ Kaosillator

This recording was done as part of a project that used the words of a deceased friend for my Electro-Acoustic class. It was broadcast on the university radio show 'The Poetry Show'. The approx 12min broadcast consists of three sections, the second section uses the Kaosillator. I hope you enjoy it. h...

I think he means either a memory (for keeping your favourite sounds or more specifically, tweeks and basic patterns). Just guessing of course.

The ones Im looking out for are probably JP-8000, or Alesis Ion (both have vocoder! :) ) I really want to Alesis Ion but they seem to go for $600 (p+p inc), a bit over my budget.
I got my JP 8000 for $500 CDN (about 250 pounds). However, the JP-8000 does not have a vocoder.

If it was my first synth, I'd look for a second hand Roland JP 8000, which will teach you the basics of how analogue synthesis works (even though it's a digital), and you can use it later as a main midi controller synth. http://www.synthmania.com/Roland%20JP-8000/Images/JP-8000.JPG http://www.synthm...

I think Roland should name their synths after cars!

They could have the Roland Focus, Roland Jeepster, Roland Intrigue, Roland Civic etc.

sorry, my attempt at humour first thing in the morning
