Re: MPC The Kit
That looks like something I designed and made in the early 1980's. To put it another way, at that time we (electronics guys) were experimenting designing our own drum machines. We'd made the analogue drums and decided digital was needed for the cymbals. Partly encouraged by Simmonds who was emerging...

Hurrah! Mr R saves the day! Thanks, I did have a quick look on that site but didn't come across that page. I esp. like those config files on offer, nice.

Re: EPS16 in need of HxC/Gotek but which one?
Yes I'm fully scuzzied up, but sometimes I prefer to have the OS from floppy than scsi due to the type of editing I'm doing.
Do you know what type spec of Gotek, HxC unit I need?

EPS16 in need of HxC/Gotek but which one?
I suspect the floppy drive in my old EPS16+ rack has expired, time to fit new. I gather the latest trick is to use one of those HxC - GoTek - USB jobs. Which one would I need to get and where's a good place (UK). I know it's the 750/800kB type as for the jumper settings, dunno as yet. I see all sort...

Re: YAMAHA TX7 display with backlight guide
yeh it's just the best thing ever when we get those dingy little displays to shine brightly. 8-) Years ago I bought a used ESi32, totally did me head in, took me time to realise the backlight was dead. Eventually got a blue LED thing (or whatever it was) now can see the it from the other side of the...

Re: Ensoniq EPS "disc not formatted" error
If I understand the latest question. From what I've discovered there's only two ways to make an EPS/EPS16+ sequence into a midi file (using software), by using Gary Giebler's product or EPSm (vintage Mac only). I think even Gary who seems to know the Ensoniq stuff better than anyone says the convers...

Re: Kawai K4 velocity glitch
I have a K4, things do go wrong with it but nothing serious. It sounds like a bit of fluff has got into the switch, careful dismantle etc. will probably do the trick. It's a very easy synth to dismantle.
Make a note of the screws when taking off the bottom cover, they are different lengths.

Re: Ensoniq VFX SD Patches, Presets, Sounds, Cartridges & Disks
I have a SD-1, I'd suggest just throw the data to the SD-1 over sys-ex. I've yet to find any bugs in the os (4.1). Even the SoundDiver "adaptation" seems to be 100%
I thought there is a version of OmniFlop that has been adapted to work with modern Windows OS, I'm sure Mr R will set us right.

Re: Kawai K4 or Korg M1?
That's great, get a K4 as you're already familiar with the M1 via the VST. The K4 is like most synths, the presets are a bit naff, with some programming effort the thing reveals itself. I have SoundDiver but sadly the "adaptation" (custom editor for a specific synth within SoundDiver) seems buggy, i...

Re: Kawai K4 or Korg M1?
...... They both are great but characteristics are completely different. Yup, that's about it. I have a K4, I've had a M1 come through my hands recently, although their basic sound generating structure are near enough the same, they do sound different. The K4 does great moods, poo at pianos (comes ...

Re: Learning to program Alesis QS6.1
I have a QS6.1 - I progam it all the time, however I use SoundDriver (I bought a legit copy in around 2000). I find synth manuals can take time to get into how they are written, the Q6.1 ain't that confusing, but then we're all different at taking in written information. The basic structure of the Q...

Re: Anyone used an Alesis Sample Rack as a Phrase Sampler/Playback Sampler?
Our drummer used their SamplePad to not only play unique drum sounds, but also had a sample that was about 30 seconds long of a poem. The only problem was, being a drummer he'd hit the pad a few times which then would trigger mulitple versions! noisey.

Re: My ALESIS QS 8.2 (Silver) seems to be DRUNK
I had something similar recently, turned out to be the pitch wheel in need of attention. A squirt of contact cleaner into the pot, a good wiggle and stability resumed.

Re: Alesis QS6.1 battery replacement
I have a QS6.1 - just something to watch out for, the QS6.1 has a number of communication options, midi is just one of them. Not wishing to seem :geek: do check the synth is set for midi. The other option is serial RS232/Mac serial (not OSX). Edit Select - Global and scroll accross to Page 15 Mine s...

Re: Ensoniq EPS "disc not formatted" error
Maybe I miss the issue. I run my EPS16+ from floppy 99% of the time even having scsi, it serves my needs. Over time I've learnt to use one of those floppy disk head cleaner things, looks like a floppy, drip some alcohol on it, insert.. .whirrr whirrr.. job done. I also closely inspect the magnetc su...
