Re: Digital Re-Surgeance: Holy Grail?

I'm loving all the digital modular gear that's been coming out recently, stuff like Braids, Mysteron, Echophon, Erbe Verb etc. I think it would be easy to have a completely digital modular system and be very happy with it now. http://i59.tinypic.com/ixdnhi.jpg I'm with this Stab Frenzy^. The digita...

Re: EML Electrocomp 101

It's been ages since I had a go at a an EML 101...A bit like the punch of a Mini Moog, the aggressiveness of an ARP 2600, and the VCF flexibility of an Oberheim SEM, combined into one cool-looking box. Stephen ^THIS.^ I have an EML-101 two feet away from me, and I was playing it an hour ago, but I ...

Re: EML Electrocomp 101

I've had an Easel since July. If you're just looking to add another unique synth voice, you will probably find it lacking, but as a self-contained compositional tool, it really shines. The available functions are fairly limited, so it's very easy to get a working understanding of the instrument. Onc...

Re: EML Electrocomp 101

I'm not sure whether I'm letting the it's aesthetic and ergonomics affect my perception of the EML, but it seems that it has an 'older' kind of sound than a Minimoog, kind of less synth, classic lead instrument and more of a Silver Apples/Broadcast/BBC radiophonic/ test oscillator sound. Some of th...

Re: Vintage Synths on the Local News...

seen your ad on craigslist. Not clear, is it $30 an hour to stop by? Or is there a 'just taking a look around' rate. The space is by appointment only, and is $30 an hour. Hopefully that is clear in the ad. This whole venture is just a labor of love, and is not financially self-sustaining, so we hav...

Re: EML Electrocomp 101

I love mine, and I've had it for at least 5 years. It's only been serviced once in that time, and has worked great, but recently Envelope 2 went out, so it will be going back for a tune-up in a couple weeks. The modulation options, routing, and the ability to attenuate the individual signals is supe...

Re: Vintage Synths on the Local News...

Very cool. I've thought about doing something similar with my collection - I just don't want to have to work "musicians' hours" of late nights and weekends. Maybe I can hire someone for that. I didn't see any info on your website about location, hours, rates or even a way to contact via email or ph...

Re: Vintage Synths on the Local News...

So, did they ask you to make all sorts of weird bleep and bloop sounds? He actually wanted cover songs, so all of that was handled last-minute by nadafarms. Everyone else, myself included, just messed around. The whole thing was so last-minute, and we didn't know what to expect, but it turned out o...

Re: Vintage Synths on the Local News...

Super cool! Nice Collection you have. Obviously! Nice to see the talented Tara Busch also making a cameo appearance. Where? I'm pretty sure that's her around the 1:38 mark and then again towards the end. Never met her in person, but from the pics and videos I've seen plus her synth obsession ...

They contacted us through Facebook a week ago asking if we'd be interested in them doing a story. I...

Re: Vintage Synthesizer Museum

Thanks for the ideas! There's some really good ones there. @sequentialsoftshock: as per your advice, I started looking at the Kickstarter page last night. I've donated to several friend's campaigns before, so I'll try to contact one of them for more insight. Thanks! As far as investors go, I have no...

Vintage Synthesizer Museum / Studio

http://www.keyboardmag.com/gear/1183/one-of-the-most-impressive-vintage-synth-collections-weve-ever-seen/52356 Opening a synth museum/studio has long been a pipe dream of mine, and well, I got it out of the pipe. The museum is located in what used to be John Nady's personal recording studio right on...

Re: POST ANY INTERESTING EBAY / CRAIGSLIST LISTINGS HERE!!!

Well it seems the eBay imbedding isn't working, but there is a fully refurbished Rhodes Chroma with CC+, aftertouch, and the Enabler! $8200 obo sounds like a great deal for the set. Unfortunately, it's local pick up only in Landenberg, Pennsylvania.

Re: Very basic questions about VCAs

In Buchla world, those are low pass gates. Slightly another thing again: they control both amplitude and also filter away higher frequencies. Usually controlled by a vactrol. They are LowPassGates, if that's what you choose. On the 292 module there is the choice of Gate(VCA), LowPassGate(VCA+LowPas...
