Re: Buying under-priced vintage synths

Great score. I once bought an 808 with a dodgy master volume knob for $250 Canadian three blocks from my house. I've always paid the asking price and not more or less when it comes to super deals. 5-8 years ago I used to score a ton locally for cheap. While we're discussing this if you're not first ...

Re: What should I buy?

If it's a super old model, I'd go for it but anything newer than about S/N 10000 with the new oscillator board I'd go for the Pro 2/Juno 60 combo. In fact, I have the Pro 2/Juno 60 combo and there's no way I'd trade it for a Minimoog unless it was a really old, really early musonics.

Re: UPDATE: eBay Buyer from h**l!

She does know that he actually stole a part of the machine, right? I was told that if i didnt receive the item in the same condition i sent it that i didnt have to refund but apparently ebay is tired of losing money that way as well. Ebay's such a scammers paradise now on both ends of the transactio...

Re: eBay Buyer from h**l!

Don't list anything you can't afford to lose. That's Paypal/Ebay in 2015. I've sold tons of stuff on Ebay over the years but no more synths now. You might have 10-20 transactions in a row go well but one asshole ruins everything and you're out a ton of money and/or gear. Lots of crappy sellers now t...

Re: EML Electrocomp 101

The more stuff I owned the less interesting it became but to be fair I owned a 100 and only a couple of times played my college's 101. They look great, it sounds not so much. My sentiments echo Doug's for the most part especially when it comes to a generally weak sound and useless patch point system...

Re: How do you have your gear hooked up?

Submixers into main mixer into patchbay into interface (RME Babyface). Effects all on patchbay.

If I ever HAVE to multitrack into an interface my old Focusrite Pro26 i/o goes into the ADAT inputs of the Babyface but I prefer to just record into the balanced inputs on the Babyface.

Re: How do you decide a synth is not for you ?

GAS for other things. Can I do the same thing (or close enough) with something else I own and like better? Outright and instant hate (rare these days as I do a lot of research). Anything new I try to play in a store first. I also find it much harder to get rid of effects than synths. It takes real w...

Re: Selling Yamaha Electone EX-1

Provided that everything is working...

With one tone cabinet, if you can find a local buyer willing to give you 1500-2k I would take it. Will be hard to get more. Most Electone's are given away but obviously these are a bit more special.

Re: Safest way to buy on Craiglist long-distance

Paypal. If they don't want to use paypal I would have a friend in the area go test and buy it cash then ship it to you. If you don't know anyone there that can test it, I would insist on paypal.

I've done it a handful of times over the years and it's always worked out.

As far as mojo goes. Instant, unconditional love is had with my Korg 770, Octave Cat SRM, Solina String Ensemble, Juno 60, Syncussion. Modular-wise the Blippoo Box and Serge stuff.

Re: What Synth has the most Mojo?

I definitely should have grabbed a CS50 or CS60 when they were much cheaper. When I started collecting you could easily get a CS50 for under 1k and a CS60 for about 1200. I had the chance to buy a CS60 a couple of years ago for 2k but balked at it just because I was worried about it being serviced l...

Re: Dead Andromeda. Great...

Maybe. Some people are suggesting that it's a power supply problem or a broken solder on the main board and not to reflash the OS or it might end up totally bricked. I am just going to try to sell or trade it locally first then Ebay if no one takes it here. I have lots of other polys, stringers and ...

Re: Dead Andromeda. Great...

No memory card. Did all the front panel tests but it wont test the voices or anything. After the front panel and jack tests instead of going into normal keyboard mode it just gets hung up.
