Re: Help with TAL-U-No-62

Dude, TAL U-no is the motherfracking shiznet. I also own the real thing which of course sounds better, but the softsynth sounds *ohhhhh* soooo close. I love that you can have different wave forms for the LFO on the software version. Plus no crackles from the filter frequency slider :-)

Re: Dx7 VS ESQ-1

Braincandy: Also, the DX21 is *not* the DX7. Four operators and only a hand-full of algorithms. No where near the sonic possibilities of either make of the 7.

Re: Dx7 VS ESQ-1

As I said--the monoaural DX7 I layers better with my other gear. The looks are only a plus

Re: Dx7 VS ESQ-1

but I am really coming to love my DX7 more...and I have only known her for a little more than a week. That has got to mean something..... There ya go. What do y'all think? Your comparison was skewed from the beginning (you've designated the DX as your synth "God"). I think it means you have abundan...

Dx7 VS ESQ-1

To compare such wildly different synths can obveously be problematic. Still, enough similarities exist between these synths to conduct our honest--even if biased--comparisons. One is fully digital--sharp, biting, even brittle at times, the other is mostly digital in terms of hardware, but in a limbo...

How to add "release" to a DX7 patch

So I am picking up on programming the Yamaha DX7 slowly but surely (today is my first day with it) but I cannot for the life of me get any "release" time added to my sounds. I have programmed patches that I feel would be great pads but.... any help is much appreciated.

Re: Best/worst Digital-Analog hybrid

http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trksid=m38&_nkw=Mono+Evolver Perhaps this will change, but the only DSI Monoevolvers that I see are over a grand. Not exactly qualifying as "cheap" im my book. What is the typical price for a used unit? This unit on ebay appears used. Perhaps the seller is just jacki...

Re: Best/worst Digital-Analog hybrid

As far as "cheaper end gear for a poor student", the mono DSI gear is already darn cheap. Evos for $350 and Mophos for $250 on the used market quite frequently. Oh dear, way to exacerbate my gear buying binge..... Although, I am promised myself that I can't buy any more gear until I learn...

Re: Best/worst Digital-Analog hybrid

I have always wanted to get my hands on some DSI gear. I know that I would love the stuff but alas, I have to stick to my cheaper end gear whilst I am still a poor college student. As for the ESQ-m, I would ask, how long did you stick with it before you gave up? I was convinced that my ESQ was a pil...

Re: My new Roland Juno-6. WARNING: SYNTH p**n AHEAD

that synth seems to be all blurry.. the paint and the lights and the edges..the keys.. the whole thing :P definitely not meant to come like that when new! :P hahaha, if only the Juno-6 had a slider to make the whole machine *turn* blurry.... that would be a sick synth indeed! I wouldent be surprise...

Best/worst Digital-Analog hybrid

Ah the world of Digital Waveform Memory and Analog Filters.... What is your favorite? Which do you dream of using for firewood? Include any synths from the Mid 80s "transition" period from Analog to Digital or newer incarnations. Favorite: Ensoniq ESQ-1/ SQ-80 I challenge you to find a more versatil...

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?

Roland Juno-6-- just this week overtook my ESQ-1 in terms of age. Great synths both, though.

My new Roland Juno-6. WARNING: SYNTH p**n AHEAD

So.... I picked this up on ebay for less than 400, shipping included. I expected it to be in *okay* condition as per the age of these boards. Boy was a wrong. She is in amazing condition, only missing two slider caps (VCF and DCO control for the p wheel, no biggie at all), beautiful side panels, NO ...

Re: A self-circuit bending Ensoniq ESQ-1?

All of these machines seem to be developing quirks in thier golden years. I dont plan to open the hood until it stops powering up, which I assume will happen at some point. The expanded pitch bend range is too sick to make fixing her now an option. I wonder if it is power-supply related or indicates...
