Re: What was your first synth?

mmm...

ENSONIQ SQ 1 PLUS.

After assisting to a DEPECHE MODE's concert on 1993, I decided that I needed to buy a synthesizer.

Re: Sample storage - SCSI stuff and so forth

Needing somewhere to put all those samples? Well here is a cheap and effective cure that I am happy to report works perfectly in my Korg ESX! This: http://images10.newegg.com/NeweggImage/productimage/20-163-403-04.JPG http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820163403 and these: http://...

Re: Other ways of getting AN1X sound

I don't think the EX5 was the exact same, but at least very very close to it, and a bit more limited due to polyphony restrictions. f=9&t=48245 The EX5 has the AN1X included. EX5 has AN1X, also it has the VIRTUAL ACOUSTIC engine inside, plus a sampler, a FDSP exclusive, and a rompler. Poly is not l...

Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)

I swear Romplers get the least love, not even on the list  True that, and a pity too - depending on the machine in question, some great sounds are to be had. cheers, Ian MOST of the romplers sucks, fantom patches are weak (the "analog feeling" on the patch edit screen seems like a joke), Karm...

Re: older first generation lineage VA synths ;)

I mean, not everyone here wants to make 70s lounge music or disco, some of us aspire to want to make something new and different. That sounds like if analogs only works for that... Lots of the most "futuristic" music is made with instruments from the past. In my case, I respect a machine built with...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series

Yeah, I totally use a ESX along with this setup. And an Devo And an airbase99 (in a rack w/ a motu to mix it all).... Aredj, we should talk, I also use an ESX along with this setup, look at my gear Kind of funny, with so much gear on market and we work almost exactly with the same tools. the HUGE p...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series

to whom it may concern... I use a TI desktop sequenced multitimbrally (sp?) from a command station live, and tend to use fairly complex patches... (long release pads, arps, basses, fx, etc - all at once - polyphony gets eaten quickly by complex patches) Its common for me to max the polyphony using ...

Re: Vintage Sampler Emulation w/Yamaha A-Series

Damn good stuff. I just bought an a4000... that's a great sampler. Despite its a s**t when programming, like any other Yamaha user interface, it sucks a big time. Great effects, short memory (old stuff) GREAT polyphony for a rack sampler! 128... Biggest tip, is to start with the highest quality pos...

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series

that's sure.... Honestly I haven't play any other VA like this one. The learning curve of the Virus TI is infinite it has so, so many options to create sounds, and I haven't use it with a PC Some people says that the Waldorf big Q is better, hmmmmmm.... Anyway, the question here, is if the SNOW (or ...

sure these guys were hi-tech hippies smoking weed during their working hours ....

New EMU is not so cool. They took from my AMEX $149.00 for a ROM that I got from their website, made the debit twice, despite multiple calls and letters during a year, never refunded me

Re: virus ti snow and the rest of virus ti series

the other thing about the snow is it uses one dsp.... not 2. its not a big issue however. It sounds like a big issue. I'm really concerned about this... found this, trying to find some thoughts about the difference between the $1200 Virus TI snow against the Virus TI desktop... BTW, Depeche appears...

This thing will do the job. Euphonix can handle such big amount of data easily. But buying a $900 device to control a £500 synth sounds weird.....
