Re: Been offered a trade. Prophet 08 SE for my Virus TI Pola

Thanks for the input guys. The other guy was kind of on the same boat about the P 08. He was a little reticent to trade, so we both slept on it and reached an agreement today. We'll try each other's synths out for a little while, and then if one of us feels any regret, we'll talk about trading back....

Re: Been offered a trade. Prophet 08 SE for my Virus TI Pola

^^ this just makes me want both, the PEK and the P08  the PEK, despite having a lower voice count, seems to be more versatile with its extended oscillator and filter options, as well as it's 4-part multitimbrality. But am I aiming for versatility with this change? I really have to think about i...

Re: Been offered a trade. Prophet 08 SE for my Virus TI Pola

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm not really that much into the performance side. More into music production, and starting to get a little bit into sound design / editing for film, tv, etc. The Virus would seem to be more of a dead ringer for those purposes but my rationale behind the trade was the...

EDIT: Went through with trade. THANKS!

EDIT: You only live once. Went with the trade. Should I? I've been using my ti polar for a little less than 3 years and I feel like I've really gotten to know its inner workings. However, sometimes I do get a little bored with it, and the menu diving can be slightly unnerving at times, so I keep thi...

Re: Prophet 08 VS Poly Evolver

I'm going through the same doubts right now. I've been a Virus TI user for about 2 years. Really got a lot out of my TI POLAR... but I think I've reached a point where I'm just bored with it and want something else. Something simpler, in a sense, that I can fully edit with the knobs on the top panel...

Sequential Circuits TOM. What's it selling for these days?

http://www.vintagesynth.com/sci/tom.php I've become interested in this drum machine, but can't seem to find one for sale anywhere. Craigslist, ebay, this board, etc. What's a fair amount of money to offer for one? I read on VSE that the estimated price for it is $150 but I'm guessing that was back w...

Re: VSE - Good trader/seller thread

I purchased a Korg ER-1 MKII from Justin aka wildstar yesterday and it was very smooth. Cool guy, easy-going, and a pleasure to deal with. The ER-1 is working great! Thanks for keeping it in such amazing condition.

Tip of the hat to you.

Re: microKORG vs. K-Station

Thanks all... well... an unexpected expense has turned up, sadly... so i'm selling the mK (already have a buyer), but I'm afraid I'll have to put the KS thing on hold for a while. :(

I'll check back in a month or two, when things pick back up and see if anyone's selling one.

Thanks again

Re: microKORG vs. K-Station

thanks gents. So, another question. How does the vocoder on the KS measure up? The one on the mK is actually pretty damn decent. Almost good enough reason to keep it! So, if I'm trading, I'd like to know that I'm not trading down in this category. In a way I wish I could just rely on my Virus's voco...

Re: microKORG vs. K-Station

you have a point! I'd been talking about this with my roommate for a while. The mK has a classic look/design, and IS great... but lacks that special "collectivity" factor, since everyone and their cousin seems to own one. Popular? yes. Cute? yes. Nice sounding? yes. Unique? no. The KS seems to have ...

microKORG vs. K-Station

So I found a microKORG for REALLY cheap (175) and felt that I just HAD to jump on it, but I saw a great deal for a K-station and now another bad case of GAS is creeping up. Now I'm wondering if I should stay with the mK or sell it and get the KS. What I like about the mK: beautiful classic design ve...

Re: Old-school, lo-fi drum machine: DDD-1 vs. RX-7

What is it you actually plan on doing with these machines? sampling? playing live? There are many many cheap 12 and 8-bit drum machines out there... The benefit of the ddd-1 is that the sounds can be tuned. I don't think they can on any (or most) old yamaha machines... besides the sounds on those r...
