Re: Is the ION completely different than Andromeda?

I am actually a Youtube troll when it comes to synths, but demos that a give a sense of an instruments almost don't exitst. Totally understand that difference of VA vs Analog. My quesiton is, is the ION attempting to do what Andromeda does, or is the whole philosophy/structure/layout/etc different? ...

Re: Poly Evolver filter sweep... unconvinced

Yeah, besides that realization on my part as well, I am afraid I'll just straight up break off the knob!

Is the ION completely different than Andromeda?

I've heard phrases such as "the Ion is the affordable version of Andromeda." I don't quite buy that and would imagine two are totally different machines (regardless of the analog/digital difference). Is this the case?

Poly Evolver filter sweep... unconvinced

I think my PEK sounds like nothing else in my setup. However, I really can't quite get into the filter, especially when sweeping. On most patches it sounds weak to me. I can imagine this is because of the cheap knob that controls it and because of the choices of default patches. Could anyone recomme...

Re: no another drum machine thread

Oh sh!t!!!! I hope this thing doesn't become vaporware?

Link to LinnDrum's latest (revision 3) pictures: http://www.rogerlinndesign.com/products/linndrum2/

I am pretty young all considered, but looking at this thing makes me want to sh*t my pants with nostalgia.

Re: Anyone regret getting Voyager Old School?

Just to clarify, I meant regretting getting an Old School vs the regular Voyager. XY pad seems neat, but not all that necessary. MIDI can be retroffited with an external box if so necessary. Patch recall would be nice, but Moog sells templates for the common sounds, so it's not like reinventing the...

Anyone regret getting Voyager Old School?

From what I read it's an instrument with zero compromises and is bound to stay a classic because of its pureness. For it's 2400 (new) price tag it honestly sounds like a pretty darn good deal. Anyone here have an Old School? Any regrets?

Re: Alesis Andromeda, only buy new?

I am so used to new things just "working" that warranty has been largely irrelevant. I also know the frustration when "something is just off" that may pass on eBay but not to someone on warranty. Seems analog machines are more prone to issues. I had to exchange the PEK sound board because one voice ...

Alesis Andromeda, only buy new?

I've been under a rock, and only recently learned that Alesis and Akai were purchased by Numark. What I've learned was both the legendary MPC series and the A6 suffer from horrible customer support, OS bugs. I've lusted after an A6 for a while, but have read not only series of bugs that will probabl...

Dunno about everyone else, but this song is stuck in my head now! As long as I don't understand French, I am sure it'll stay that way.

Re: Coolest modern niche synths...

All I gotta say is "wow!". Truly so much to get excited about. The great thing abou niche synths is that they might be too limited in general, but do something no other synth does. I think that's part of making a true classic. Hey clusterchord, Kyma Pacarana is basically a massive DSP board for an u...

Anything to check when buying preowned Moog Voyager?

I am considering purchasing a Voyager, though I would most likely look for a gently preowned one. With a digital synth, it's mostly whether it works or not (binary). For something analog, like a Voyager, what are potential pitfalls to be aware of? I heard once that there was a good chance you were p...

Re: Suggest a VST host, ala "Virtual Rack"?

HI noob. In the case of a VST host, NI Kore basically accomplishes that. However, I don't think you can add other random VSTs and VST effects into their setup to create a sort of virtual rack though. Regardless, NI Komplete is very nice, IMO.

Re: Coolest modern niche synths...

My collection of synths is for sure stuck in the early 2000's (except for PEK). That's part result of thinking only of "mass market" and part of that is simply not knowing the interesting choices out there. Everyone seems to lust after the classic synths, but the more I look, the more I find new con...
