Analog synth transplant on a 106

Synth 1 2 chips work Synth 2 5 chips work Solution, transplant. http://img64.imageshack.us/img64/5241/img0481mt.jpg After 3 grueling hours of completely changing the board, I found that the CPU board battery was not saving patches and the memory bank was empty. Then, I decided to transplant the CPU ...

Re: CS-15 power supply electrolytic replacement

I know how frustrating it can be when your synths don't behave (especially if they're analog) However, the CS-15 is a really nice analog board, so all the peices are fairy easy to replace. I've got one right now, but luckily it's behaving. A burnt resister or capacitator is gonna be very affordable,...

Re: Roland Juno 106 drifting out of tune

It doesn't take an adapter, so the power supply may need to be calibrated. A few of the sliders aren't working properly, so I've tried contact cleaner and it has helped a bit. Otherwise, I need to replace 1 voice and possibly have it professionally looked at. I've owned quite a few 106's and this on...

Roland Juno 106 drifting out of tune

Thanks if you can help. ;) Basically, there is a problem when I keep a note sustained with a long release. The note seams to drift slightly out of tune. The DCO is supposed to correct the pitch, so why is it acting so weird? I'm going to check it out in diagnostic to verify the voices, but I'm prett...

Re: broken Korg KPR 77 advice

I've brought a dead KPR77 back to life by opening it up, cleaning all the circuitry, cables, and switches. Make sure to use the right adapter.

Re: thinking of selling my jupiter 4

Another thing to consider is if it has a case or not. In mint condition, you might get 2k, but the way is sounds to me is like you'd do a lot better asking $1500. Someone can pretty much get a JP6 for about that price.

Fixed a Yamaha DX-7

Picked up a Yamaha DX-7 today for $40 with a nice stand. There were quite a few problems with the synth, such as 2 keys that were sticking up and it was on the mono mode and the pitch and modulation were off. Fortunatley, I've owned the Yamaha DX-100 before, so I messed around in the editing and put...

Re: Recording Synths in Mono VS. Stereo

I think it comes down to Psychoacoustics

A lot of rock groups start their song with a mono introduction and then have a huge stereo explosion (eg. Lenny Kravitz, Pink Floyd, etc.) Electronic musicians also use this same trick, but I find it's much more subtle.

I think it might be the Clavia Nord Lead as well. Does anyone hear a phaser going through the mix?
