Re: The PPG 1020/1002 synths

A great synth-site in german with much text, many photos and samples. The PPG 1002:

Also check out the PPG webpages. Samples there too:

Re: What synth = what car?

"The DX7, for example, is a nice, commercial little toy, at a reasonable price. But it's a little bit noisy, and I think the main reason so many people have bought it is that it has such a clever library of sounds. I don't want to criticize it too much it's good for studio work and nice to have arou...

Re: Rarest Synths

Yamaha DX7 Centennial. About 300 made. http://web.quick.cz/a.tom.x/dx7c.htm

Speaking of DX7, the Jellinghaus DX Programmer could be worth mentioning http://www.teaser.fr/~amajorel/jellinghaus/ You can enlarge the pics to p**n proportions ;)
But this one may belong to "rare synth related gear".

Re: Rarest Synths

Except the links to old Soviet and Italian synths in this thread, there´s some more here. There´s a few old german/east german manufacturers too:

Oberheim OBX or 4-voice for the polyphinc parts and then a Roland SH as monosynth.

Re: E-mu's Bizarre Sense Of Humour!

SCI:s sense of humour was more confusing and deceptive than bizarre regarding their samplers: Prophet 2000: give it the impression that it has a lot of buttons so that people press on the grey squares by mistake. Make a LED which shows rebuses. Let mapping be more of a chess game with the machine. L...

Re: synth used in BILLIE JEAN for bassline.

The "Beat It" intro sound is Synclavier. Extract 7 on this site: http://ned.synthesizers.fr/audio.php?PH ... 0e70581929

Several awesome sounds there.

Re: Which Synth had the best Chorus?

Juno-106 has only 1 DCO/voice. I think that the chorus effect is greater with this configuration than if the synth had 2 DCO's or VCO's/voice. What is technically doubled, is not nessesarily doubled in terms of experience. Could that be a reason why people feel that the 106:s chorus sounds best?

Re: sequential prophet 2000? never heard it

I have some diks on the way and can post some samples when I get them.

piRoN. It span the whole range from amazingly hi-fi to amazingly aliased, distorted and industrial. That´s so great with the P2000. :)
