Re: Beepbloop.com is now live!

i just read the bit about Good Willsmith; they look interesting. The googles led me to this: http://vimeo.com/43883686 which has some pretty nice sounds. I'd like to read a bit more about the band in the intro, maybe something like a short interview or discussion of their methods before the tour jou...

Re: how important is compression

If you know I'm stating opinions how do you figure I'm stating facts? I don't think you're stating facts. Are you transfering your compression haters' hate on to me? Besides that what you did was a lame way to post and call me an idiot I didn't say you were an idiot. I disagree with your opinion ab...

Re: how important is compression

yes, it's absolutely shocking that somebody would hold a differing opinion about an artistic endeavour, isn't it? must post pithy response in order to show how superior i am! I'm not shocked that someone has a differing opinion. I just firmly disagree with anyone who says that _______ tool for reco...

Zamise wrote:Anyhow, I say stay away from compression as much as you can, the trick to compression is to not have to have it or use it as little as possible. It is something used for correcting, it is a prison facility for bad sounds. Good sounds should not have to go there, generally speaking.

Re: how important is compression

compression can either be used subtly or as an "effect"; no-one is required to use it. I use compressors on almost every track I work on. Yes, it's possible to create similar effects by messing with the volume settings. You can draw in automation that will be very similar to a transparent compressor...

Re: reasonably priced headphones?

get the Sennheiser HD280s
agreed, I have a pair and like 'em. I think they are pretty low impedance, as they get astonishingly loud plugged into the macbook, let alone going through an amp. I find them pretty comfortable, even for longish periods of time.

thanks! i took a listen to your stuff as well, really diverse! the pads in alps pt1 are really nice, is that Reason? the glitched-out end of providence was a neat changeup as well, wasn't expecting that, a flashback to the days of cds skipping. I recognize the pi sample in golden rectangle, but what...
