Re: KORG iKaossilator for iPhone - Dynamic Synthesizer

If I were Korg, I'd be developing a competitor for the Alesis IO Dock, and using apps like the iMS20 and a new 'Kaoss iPad' to headline it.... Oh, and I'd be putting a keyboard and a second oscillator on a Monotribe sharpish, too, just in time for the 'analogue synth for christmas' thingie.. I'm cer...

Re: KORG iKaossilator for iPhone - Dynamic Synthesizer

All of the Korg apps are very good, especially the ims20... But I can't help feeling they're missing the king of Korg apps.. The kaoss pad 4.... We know they are capable of it, after all here's the Kaoss synth.... Give us a Korg Kaoss Pad app and some form of integrated PCM wav recorder, and the iPa...

Re: Alesis IO Dock for Ipad

Thanks, looks good. Any other stereo audio PCM recorders which I should be aware of, maybe with ipad interfaces?

Re: Alesis IO Dock for Ipad

I'd be interested in this too. I'm blown away by Moog's Filtatron and Animorph, and would like to use Filtatron as a sort of Kaoss Pad and Hard disk recorder away from the DAW. Now, I'm still on the hunt for the most reliable stereo ipad recorder... Just a simple 'fill up the hard drive and transfer...

Re: Similar to Polymorph?

Seriously consider an Elektron Monomachine. Totally different workflow, but that same multi-sequence berlin school vibe. P-locks on the monomachine allow you to do far more with the innards of a sequence than just LFO global effects, too (although all the LFO stuff is present and correct aswell...)

Re: a synth and FXs

I just do what I like. If I think something sounds better then I leave it in. Less and less I care how a sound got made, and more and more I care about what that sound does.

Eno [Specifically the Ambient series] Schulze [moondawn etc] FSOL [the 'lifeforms/Archives/Dead Cities sampler-heavy stuff] Bill Laswell Biosphere Carbon Based Lifeforms Jarre, of course .. but interestingly the music I make sounds nothing like them. Instead, I'd like to thank our own members Carbon...

Re: Putting together a rack...

It's worth noting that here in the UK, a power conditioner is far less of an absolute requirement. Not a UK vs USA one-upmanship thing, but a feature of our different power grids, supply infrastructure and much shorter distances. We just don't get the same spikes and wallows, I'm told. A surge prote...

Re: Effects processor for synths

I'm bipolar on this. I have great fun automating the h**l out of every insert in a plug-in FX chain, and often run four FX plugs in sequence for FSU type sounds. Likewise, I'll run loads of things through Guitar Rig 4... ...except guitar. That goes through an Eventide Eclipse. Nothing I have FX wise...

Re: Really need some advice!

Of course you don't. You have the most flexible VA ever going in the TI2, the most sonically far-reaching hybrid ana/dig mono synth ever made in the Evolver, and a couple of well regarded analogues in the Mopho/Tetra. All that, and the FR Revolution aswell? That is a killer setup for a great many pe...

Re: The most flexible 3osc VA around?

If you're lucky you'll pick up a Virus TI desktop for under 1000 dollars. Without doubt it's the most flexible 3 osc VA you'll find in this company. Far knobbier than a Blofeld, graintable, formant, wavetable, supersaw, dual signature filters, FM, huge mod matrix... Only the Q can hold a candle to i...

Re: Most Bodacious Modern Digital Synth

I was going to disagree, but then realised that you're exactly right. RAM and HDD's have made Romplers king on computers, and resynthesis, modern FM incarnations and downright clever innovations such as Aalto and Razor show that software has the spark [no pun intended..] .. so, what's left in digita...

Re: Analog, VA or..... the future?

sadly, software piracy is the alternative to buying hardware for a great many people. I think, generally and not directed at VSE, that folks on the internet should stop worrying or comparing cocks like this is always some kind of competition. The only component which is inarguably better or worse th...
