Re: What was the cheapest Synth you ever bought?

AAgh, I was able to buy a Moog Source for $475 a few days ago, claimed to be in pristine condition. I was the first person to call but the seller was about 60 miles away and I wasnt able to drive out until the weekend (obviously didnt want it bad enough..) He offered to deliver it for a small fee wh...

Re: Cars "Hello again" classic sync sound

See attachment. Sync VCO 2 to VCO 1. Make VCO 2 a square wave. Set both VCOs to 16'. Modulate pitch of OSC 2 with Env 1 (.75 or so). Set Envelopes accordingly. Filter is wide open in the picture but you may want to cut high frequencies a little. Awesome!! Thanks. So it looks like the part that was ...

Re: Cars "Hello again" classic sync sound

Whoops.. I picked the first video I saw but I KNOW ive seen one with him playing that on the JP8. Ill see if I can find the other.. Regardless, its the same sound No Doubt uses in Just a Girl and at one point their keyboardist was using a Jupiter 8 live for that sound, so I know its possible....

Cars "Hello again" classic sync sound

Im playing around with the Jupiter 8V Demo and im trying to program the classic Cars sync sound. You can hear it on this live vid around 40 seconds into it. (You can even see hes playing it on a JP8 in the vid  ) http://www.youtube.com/v/CSKwmBROvL4&hl Any tips on getting this with the JP8 ...

DX7 vs TX7?

Ive been wanting to pick up an FM synth for a while now and with its popularity in the 80s/90s the DX7 seemed like the obvious choice. Im pretty picky on condition and most DX7s I see are beat up pretty badly. I also dont know if I can find room for one, as im pretty happy with my current setup. I s...

Re: Recession, what recession?

I think prices have definitely gone down. Jupiter 8s are now selling for about $3300 average when a few months ago they were selling for about $4000 to $4500. Prophet 5s have been selling for about $2000 average, when a few months ago they were selling for $2800 to $3500. Minimoogs are now selling f...

U-NO-62! Its a Juno 60 emulation. I liked it so much I decided I had to go buy an actual Juno 6 :)

Juno 6 LFO trig button

Ive been wanting a Juno 6 or 60 for a while ever since I sold my 106 a few years ago. A Juno 6 showed up locally and I decided to snag it. Cosmetically it is perfect, but the LFO trig button doesnt work. Seller didnt know too much about it and I got some $$ knocked off because of it. I was...

Re: PRICES : the most heated yet absent debate

Conversely there are lots of synths that are cheaper than they deserve to be. Buy those. A few years ago I passed up many Jupiter 8s in classifieds and on ebay. Some for $1500 or $2000 in pristine condition. I thought they were at the peak of the market (and I didnt necessarily have the cash then) ...
