Re: Know of any MC 303 Mods?

If the mc-303 uses a DSP (as I imagine it does), your bending options are limited, but it's worth a (non-destructive) shot. Do you have a multimeter?

Re: Do you aknowledge the importance of dance music

Modern dance music is soul-less, essentially talentless as its all done by combining samples and pre-bought dum patterns on a PC in about 10 minutes (I know a guy who creates sample CDs and club music for a living he showed me how easy it is), so no that rubbish does not keep this site alive its ki...

Re: live gig in a sandpitt, how to make the gears survive?

The best cure for the nerves is positive feedback from an involved audience. Seriously- nothing emboldens me as an artist like throwing everything I have into it and getting it back in turn. Of course beerx5 and some herb would help you get that far, but I'm sure you can find your way : ) As far as ...

Re: JX8P Midi Control

I've not seen a VST editor for the JX8P, but before scoring my PG-800 I picked up a BCR-2000 midi knob panel that can transmit sysex messages via midi to the jx8p. I never finished programming it, though. As iprog mentioned, the PG-800 transforms the synth, really - should be considered a required a...

Re: JX-8P v Juno-60

However the JX's as much as I love them are not all singing/dancing either.. they lack ARPs for a start. Yeah, I wish the 8P had an arpeggiator. Nice summary, btw. Hook that mello-yello up to Live! for your arpeggiation fix. I recently also tried my midi keyboard as controller for my JX-8P, and wow...

Re: What is the Oldest Piece of Gear in Your Studio?

Micromoog (1976), followed by my Korg Stage Echo 500 (1979). I'm glad I don't look or smell as old as these guys, even though we're of a similar vintage : )

Those tracks/videos are dope! - can't believe that weird syncopation. Album covers are strange, kind of a Richard D. James 100 AD thing.

Re: best mini digital recorder for my needs?

I've been in the market for a while, and have listened to most contenders in the sub $500 price range. IMO the best is the Sony PCM-D50, followed closely by the Olympus LS-10.

Re: Uploading a large mp3 -> 57MB!

Pay a few to several bucks a month for a real web host that isn't advertisment h**l for your visitors while they are downloading and listening to your music? I like this option best. This is far and away the best option, imo. Web hosting is CHEAP, and you'll have private space/bandwidth to use as y...

Re: Cheap mixers

Of those, I'd go with the Yamaha. Though I've not had a Xenyx, I have had two Behronger mixers. First was ~10 years ago, liked the mixer - despite the noisy signal, it was nicely built- liked it well enough that I sold it and bought a second, newer model. Which fell apart and was noisy. Cheap faders...
