Re: DSI PRO 2

regarding the oscillators they are the same as the prophet 12 in terms of modulation and post oscillator/pre filter waveshaping ... but there's more waveforms and because of the new voice architecture they sound a lot beefier than the 12 in terms of bottom end ...

Re: DSI PRO 2

Thanks guys. Yes it's absolutely fine to send the video around :-) As for the Prophet 12 vs Pro 2 thing, I wrote something about that in another forum: the Pro 2 and the Prophet 12 are very very different concepts. The Pro 2 is sort of like a swiss army knife mono synth with tons of connectivity in ...

Re: DSI PRO 2

I've been one of the sound designers working on the factory bank for the Pro 2. Here's what some of the things I came up with sound like. This synth is awesome!

Re: DSI Prophet 12 release date?

I wouldn't mind a 10 minute video just going through presets and play simple chords or whatever. Very little actual examples of sounds on youtube, just interviews with DSI sales guys on youtube so far. Also, some examples of that wavetable thing. The only DSI retailer in my vicinity has an unconfir...

Re: Korg Mini MS-20

I don't know if this got posted but we recorded this straight from the line out into zoom h4n at NAMM. We've got a korg 35 ms20 and thought the new one sounded pretty much spot on with a bit more top end than the vintage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bxXXf9U_CVk The band that did this demo is worth checking out by the way. Made an awesome EP last year: http://www.darkentriesrecords.com/store/dark-entries/inhalt-vehicle-ep/ Yes--it is a great EP. They are making some very cool early German new wave sounding materia...

Re: recommend me my first drum machine

I would say if it's gonna be your only box to start with check out the Tempest. It's out of the price range but a lot of places offer payment plans. It's got a really solid tone and a sequencer that's pretty much second to none.

Re: Help! My OB-X has stopped working:(

start with the power supply. regardless of what the problem is if the power supply caps have not been replaced with new ones start with that. same thing with the voltage regulators in there. before you do that find the service manual and using a volt meter test the voltage coming from the power supp...

Re: Any Advice on an Entry-Level Synth?

if you want something analog and classy check out the Minitaur. You'd need to get a little keyboard controller and it's a bass synth only, but you can get the classic and full Moog sound out of it. It's the most affordable moog and it sounds absolutely cracking :-)

Re: Arturia MiniBrute - analog monosynth

This one belongs to my girlfriend. I really really like the sound of it. It's kinda a cross between an Arp Odyssey and a Korg MS20. That's kinda the closest comparison I can think of. Really nice and for the price it's ridiculous!

love the presets on a CR78 and the CR8000's from Roland. Samba never sounded so good! (I'm not kidding either)

Re: Which bands use hardware synths?

i really don't mean to touch myself too much but my group Inhalt uses nothing but hardware synths and records (most of the time) to analogue tape. We're on an independent label here in san francisco. Also, some other groups here in the area are using a lot of hardware. I highly recommend checking ou...
