Re: Hardware: Multiple hardware EQs for multitracks?

Thanks guys.

I was figuring that at first while asking the question, but then I thought "Damn, the mixing desks EQs only go so far in filtering out the right frequencies".

Hardware: Multiple hardware EQs for multitracks?

Hey,

My entire setup (CURRENTLY) is totally within the PC, thus I have no hardware units. In my DAW, Each individual track can have EQ vsts applied if need be. I was just wondering how does that work in a hardware setup.

Re: Do You Keep a Synth Just For One Special Sound?

Roland D-550 - Living Calliope, Shakuhachi
Yamaha Motif Rack - Power Grand
Yamaha DX-7 - several sounds - can't think of the names right now.

These sounds are standard in a lot of the music I make. If it weren't for that though, some synths I wouldn't keep.

Any Oberheim DMX & Kawai R-50e samples?

I didn't put this in the samplers forum because this doesn't really have anything to do with samplers. Anyway, I just wanted to know if anyone here has some hi-quality and non-choppy samples of these two drum machines. I have searched online and found several sites with some samples, but they are ei...

Re: Roland JV-1080 basic questions

As long as you create your own stuff from scratch you're protected from this cheese factor. For acoustic sounds.. it may be.. slighly dated. It's just that for acoustic instruments there're so many options (software mostly) these days, all of 'm are lightyears ahead of the JV. For synthetic stuff l...

Roland JV-1080 basic questions

I've read that this unit is the most popular synth in history and used on more recordings than any other synth. What is it that made it so popular (Not a sarcastic question mind you)? I heard some demos of this synth on synthmania a while back (The link is gone now), but most of the sounds that get ...

Re: Yamaha RS-7000 vs. Roland MC-909

Whoa, GREAT description of those machines hoax! I think when the time comes I may end up with the MC-909 instead of the MPC-1000. Your description of it's features here combined with some that I've read elsewhere makes me lean more and more towards it.

Re: Yamaha RS-7000 vs. Roland MC-909

Thanks you guys. I just wanted to see what my options were with both. I was looking at an Akai MPC 1000 and might still get one later, but after checking the average price ranges on ebay, I will be verging on MC-909 or RS-7000 money, so I figured I may as well get something with a synth engine in it...

Yamaha RS-7000 vs. Roland MC-909

Which is better overall between the two in regards of basic functionality and on-board sounds. Speaking of sounds, I've read somewhere on this site (On the main site via the comments section) that the RS-7000 has *some* of the basic voices from the first Motif series. Is this true? If not. Are they ...

Re: Korg Electribe ES-1: Pros & Cons

3. Set up each individual drum track of the sequence on different MIDI channels so they can send out MIDI notes to trigger the drums in the software sampler. [*] All drum parts go on the same channel. Better take a look at the manual and see if it really fits your needs. ;) Glad you pointed that ou...

Re: Korg Electribe ES-1: Pros & Cons

That sucks that you can't program melodies either. I guess it's just as basic as u can get. The price range says it all. I MAY - Keyword "MAY" - still get one though for use as a MIDI controller for my software sampler VST - "Shortcircuit", which lacks a sequencer. The samples that I was going to lo...

Re: Korg Electribe ES-1: Pros & Cons

Very good overview of the pros & cons, xenomorph. I was thinking of giving it a try up til the last con. I wanted to be able to play the sample across an external MIDI controller. I know that wouldn't stop anyone from being able to play the pitch on the machine itself - hope not - but this option wo...

Re: Korg Electribe ES-1: Pros & Cons

Thanks monolith for the reply.

I was wishing this thing could at least have 16 tracks for drums, as my compositions usually contain many percussions. Darn.

The 2 at a time-overdubbing process would be too slow for me it seems, but I guess on most sequencers this would be the only way to do it.

Korg Electribe ES-1: Pros & Cons

I would like to know some pros & cons of using this machine from people who have personally used it. In addition, I have some specific questions about it......... How many drum tracks are allowed? I read that you cannot modify the swing during playback or recording - Which sucks something serious - ...
