Re: Getting that full sound

I agree with what the other guys said. One big factor that people fail to mention though, is that not everyone mixes the same way. You can take the same instrument and have different people to use it in their songs, but for each producer the sound may vary because of how it's EQed, the type of compr...

Re: Any basic modern ROMplers available?

You might look at some of the older E-mu proteus lines as well . However if you're game to go the keyboard route instead you could look in to the Yamaha MM6, Roland Juno D or DI , or a Korg X50 . Lol, this is old :D . I already found the ROMpler I needed. Thx anyway. What I wanted to know now was s...

Layering Motif Rack with plug-in boards

Let me ask something. Is it possible to layer the Motif's on-board sounds with those of the plug-in boards? If so, that would be neat, like having those pristine, authentic acoustic samples layered over the FM sounds of the PLG150-DX or the analog sounds of the PLG150-AN.

Re: URGENT! Looking for software & hardware samplers

Akai samplers are dead cheap nowadays. So are Emu's. Most old-school samplers, though, are gonna want you to load the sounds in when you turn it on. They're also gonna require skill in fitting playable samples into available RAM. Now, that's a great skill to learn. In fact, I'd go so far as to say ...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

These 2 are instruments that will just make you lust. That's the beauty of 'em. I do want to get a D-550 badly one of these days, but if I get one it would be just for collection's sake because I dunno if I would really need it or not, ya know. It's mostly used for warm space pads and VA stuff these...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Wow, b3groover, I went to the synthzone site link you posted and dwlded those patches, and my mind TOTALLY blowed. I just wonder why couldn't those all be presets instead of the sucky ones which came with the unit. Pretty much any synth-type sound I want I got it now. Even the sounds that I thought ...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Clyde, Are there any free voice banks available over the net? If so, what sites are they located on. Most of the ones I came across, you have to buy, and to me, they are so-so.

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Oh, that sucks. If it had the same FM though, I bet it would blow the SY/TG-77 out of the water with the vector synthesis. I found TG-33 demos on synthmania.com..............I know that usually the presets on a synth don't show off it's full capabilities, and mostly suck. A good bit of the presets s...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

I know this is a bit off topic, but what's up with the Yamaha SY-22/TG-33? I understand that it has FM + AWM + Vector. Is it as good as either the D-50 or SY-77 at least as far as pads and FM-analog type emulations go?

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

PS: I think it would be fun to post some tracks, one from each synth. IF anyone of you decide to do this, the drums don't have to come from the synths, just the melodies. K guys, I did a brief track with some TG-77 melodies. It still needs work and my playing isn't that perfect (As you will hear), ...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Where do you guys usually go to upload your mp3 files? I uploaded a mp3 to several sites and tried posting here, but the mp3 player on this site won't play it for some reason. :?

I finished a track with the TG77 that I wanna post here.

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Good point guys. I havent even thought about replacing the light. I guess I was sorta pissed at impulse, especially when the seller listed it as in mint condition. I asked for sure if anything was wrong and he said no, it just has some dents and scratches as shown in the pics, but everything works. ...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

Everyone says the acoustic samples sound dated and not so authentic. Yes, I wouldn't mind if the track would get posted here so we can give it a listen. I'm interested in hearing it. Then again, my TG-77 supposed to be here any day now, so I will be able to judge for myself too how authentic they s...

Re: URGENT! Looking for software & hardware samplers

Wow! Thanks balma. That V-synth sounds like it's got it all, but YIKES! for the money it goes for it's a no-no; which my fault is that I failed to mention a budget in the first place. I think I will just stick with the software. Maybe later down the line I will look into a hardware sampler, but I wi...

Re: Yamaha SY-77 vs Roland D-50

I absolutely adore both the D-50 and the SY77 - I have had both in the studio for 20 years and will never part with them. For me they are like chalk and cheese. The SY77 is an amazingly complex beast with just the most fantastic expression and real time control - it really is capable of some beauti...
