Peeps with electronics knowledge -analogue 'leaking hihat'

Seems my Dr. Rhythm isn't enough of a doctor to save himself.. Since I modified my DR-110, it's started constantly leaking a mid/hi frequency tone that tunes with the hihat/cymbal tuning control. (a modified control) It makes the box basically unuseable so it's really something I need to sort out.. ...

Re: sampling microscopic sounds (ants, bugs) and long distance

For the record, ants don't make noise, they communicate via pheremones.

Re: Do you aknowledge the importance of dance music

I think the reason synthesisers have remained is because there's been enough people that still like synthesisers to buy them, regardless of whether their music is 'dance' or not. There's plenty of possibility for dance music that has no synthesisers in it, so its not 'dance music' that makes synthes...

Re: If analog synths were being produced today...

I dont see many substandard synths being produced.. The range of currently available synths from the big companies are actually pretty good. I like mcdonalds. .. no other place has grease quite like them. Also, what are the specific features that you want that you can't get on one of the already ava...

Re: The Responsible Synthesist

'responsible' synthesist?

A responsible synthesist does not synthesise biological or chemical weapons of mass destruction?

A responsible synthesist runs his synthesisers on solar power?

A responsible synthesist does not synthesise highly resonant brown notes?

Yamaha QY70->sequence other gear!?

I just got a yamaha QY70, had a play with it for a while just on the couch - but the main purpose I got it is to sequence other gear. So I go to plug the midi out into my synth and... .. . The MIDI light on my synth just won't light up - no data at all is coming out of the QY70! (I'm sure the synth ...

Re: Orchestral Rompler

have you tried the other ROM cards for the proteus 2000 range? There's one called siedleczak orchestra.. or something like that.. I can't spell that name. (pretty sure the virtuoso 2000 is just one of the proteus 2000 variants) *edit* " The Peter Siedlaczek 32 MB expansion ROM offers you some of the...

I also recommend Live..

it comes with a bunch of lessons to help you figure it out, and it is really simple.

Re: Any all-ES-1 songs out there?

I'm trying to do this, well.. ES-1 + KP3 I only just got my ES-1 though so still working out how I'm going to do things. I'm actually looking at buying a 2nd - which IMO will make it go from a 'cool sampler' to something more like 'insane techno monster' I plan on using 1 for basic percussion/beats,...

Re: New MFB-522 drum machine, now with more cowbell..

I'm guessing it's the same housing as the 503? unfortunately its still the standard ugly MFB case. Only with an even uglier colour scheme than anyone could have thought possible. I guess you won't be buying it then to frame and hang on your wall. Probably a pretty good guess. It's ugly. Doesn't mea...

Re: Peculiar samples

I still haven't got a portable recorder.. which I'd love to get sometime.. for now the weirdest thing I have done, is put a contact mic on the bottom of a can of ginger beer and drink it all/let it sit just after opening to fizz and bubble. The crossing of metallic sounds and liquid sounds is rather...

Re: Midi controller needed! With synth included

Yeah, I guess I should've been more specific: size matters and I need a small keyboard, like 25 keys. The X-Station looks totally awesome! If it sounds good, I'm getting one :D Thanks all for your replies. The xiosynth is basically an xstation in a smaller package so.. It is a little newer, perhaps...

Re: Midi controller needed! With synth included

pretty much every newish synth with a keyboard is a full midi controller

since you like the xio, what about the x-station?
