Re: Arturia Brutes track

This is really rather good. A bit like early Depeche Mode/Vince Clarke. I have a Minibrute myself - you've done well to coax those sounds out of a single oscillator!

Re: Science and techno (video)

Thanks for the compliments, all. I don't live on either of those islands, no, but I've been there before. The currents are frightening -- it's like a river at full flood, but faster. Btw. the Arturia Beatstep is great fun, and fantastic for this sort of stuff. I strongly advise anyone who isn't in p...

Science and techno (video)

Evening all I finally, finally got a spare afternoon to finish a video and tune together. It's computer model animation, accompanied by a bit of techno by my good self. Almost all multitracked Korg MS20 with an Arturia Beatstep on sequencing duties. Anyway, hope you enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/wat...

But then when you consider that the minimum wage here is about three times higher than in the US, we can visit the doctor for free when we're sick etc. things don't seem so bad. :D [OT] Australia seems a lovely place; the Australians I've met have been good folk, and the country is definitely on my...

Re: First mixer advice

I thought, that more than 10 years of using it at home studio and live was enough to offer an advice. Of course I didn't make AB comparitions - I'm not proffesional reviewer. I heard other mixers and yes, there are differences in sound, but OP asked for advice on cheap first mixer - I think Behring...

What is digital bite? Is it like analogue bite, but less discrete?

Re: Tracks featuring Matrix-12 and Pittsburgh + SH-101

I like these, a lot. The sounds are fantastic, and the writing is good. The only criticism I have is that it feels like you've overcompressed the mix: the individual tracks feel like they're too hot, and competing for headroom. Aside from that, really really good. Totally jealous of your kit! Cheers

Re: Rhodes House #2

I love that initial bass, the arp part and the lead. Fantastic sound design and arrangement. I really don't like the drums though, to me they don't sit comfortably in the mix with the rest. Perhaps they're too dry or perhaps they're not the right drum sounds? I'm no expert on four to the floor styl...

Rhodes House #2

Good evening fellow VSE'rs, I finally got to grip with Ableton Live, and after a family-free hour messing around with the Minibrute, the MS-20, and the Arturia Beatstep, I came up with this. It's been a lot of fun. Live has been painless to use, and I find myself writing.. dance? with the Beatstep. ...

These are rather good, Pflosi. I particularly enjoyed the percussive track: modulars (in the right hands!) clearly have great potential for creating interesting variations in rhythm tracks.

Re: Korg Might Be Up To Something.

Have any of you actually PLAYED an original MS-20? I've owned three. The knobs were s**t... they offered no resistance whatsoever, and felt like the crappiest things ever compared to their contemporaries. Yes, Mini knobs feel like they could tolerate less abuse, but at least they offer resistance. ...

Re: BeatStep Pro

Thanks for the mini-review, loungedumore. I have the original Beatstep, and whilst I love its simplicity, it was a bit annoying that the CV/trig wouldn't work with my MS-20. Good to hear that works now.
