Re: MiniMoog bargain clone wars heat up

Moog's business strategy appears to be keeping high volume/low cost products in production and low volume/high cost products in limited editions. That way they do not waste resources on inventory and space on the manufacturing line. They are a small company and can only handle offering a small numb...

It's not the number of voices, it's how you use them, Phesago. ;)

Re: Upgrade my Mopho or Buy a cheap prophet 08?

In an Ideal world I would've just started with the Mopho X4.. I'm realizing that I could add an upgrade to my Mopho, or buy a prophet 08, but neither would be near as complete of a piece as the REV2, which is fully loaded with everything I want. I have decided to save up for a new REV2, and I'll se...

Re: MiniMoog bargain clone wars heat up

If the B*hringer has background hiss and bleed over that some of their other products have had in my personal experience, then I'll give it miss. But the KARP Odyssey? Still not a bad price for what you get, especially the rack.

The real question is, how are Moog going to respond to this?

Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!

Are those presets in the demo or did you dial up some sounds of your own? That first part does sound really Obie-ish. Boy did I pick a bad time to stop using hardware  :D Sorry MBF! The first bit with the brass and strings is mine. The last one is a modified DSI patch; all the rest are Dave Sm...

Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!

I used to always dislike the multibutton push way of accessing patches in many synths...you know bank, sub-bank, number...but it does allow to get to a particular patch very fast (if you know the location). These days category searches and bank lists really are a must...with over 1000 patches, find...

Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!

That would be great, thank you! =D> As promised - here's a quick demo, and my take on the Rev2. The clip below is all just played in, with some of the patches layered with keyboard split: http://www.clubbedtodeath.net/download.php?rev2-demo.mp3 DSI Prophet Rev 2 demo (mp3 download) Overall impressi...

Re: Choosing between the MS-20 mini and KARP Odyssey *module

(Note: I own both an MS-20 and a KARP Odyssey with mini keyboard) I agree with the comments above. The KARP's high pass filter is pretty much only good for EQ, for taking off some of the low end. The HPF on the MS20, on the other hand, is one of its strong suits. It's quite aggressive, and with reso...

Nah, just issued an Odyssey Rev.4 with a few interface tweaks only, and no messing around with the analogue signal path.

Re: Full sized Korg Arp Odyssey

It makes a difference when modulating VCO 2, S&H and the VCF. Korg need an inverter switch on the VCO1 output to cater for all versions - They included a switch for the pre/post portamento/transpose function, so why not for VCO1? Simple little things that get overlooked like that, really annoy me ;...

3. Korg MS-20 (Patchability a huge plus and the classic sound but v/Oct-v/Hertz conversion dulls it (I have the MS-20 iOS app)) The new MS-20s (eg. MS-20M kit) will do both Hz/V and V/Oct. Plus, it has a few additional features not available in the old Korgs: http://www.soundonsound.com/reviews/kor...

That's pretty good. But it will be at least double that if you're sending it back out to external effects, and in again, then out again. Enough to be annoying? I wouldn't know.
