Indeed. Much as I love Ableton, not having to fiddle around with latency tweaks would be a huge bonus.
Live: $1199 "expected 2/6"
X: $2199 "expected 3/9"
Hmmm, not sure if I'm $2199 interested.

Re: What do you mix hardware with?

I'd be against doing routing within your DAW, for one reason - latency. What might be acceptable latency just now, might be noticeable when it's doubled. Whether you get a mixer or not, I second the suggestion of using a patchbay - that will give you plenty of flexibility with external multiple effe...

Re: Full sized Korg Arp Odyssey

Ha, 14% indeed. Lined up my MS20 (3 oct FS) with my KARP the other day. It's only 1 1/2 inches wider. More to the point, will it have a proper MIDI out and not that ground loop inducing USB link?

Re: How many hardware synths do you own?

Eight at the moment:
Korg MS20
KARP Odyssey
Arturia MiniBrute SE
DSI Evolver
Oberheim Matrix 6
Waldorf Blofeld
Nord Lead 2
Novation KS4

Thinking of replacing the last three with a Studiologic Sledge 2; the Matrix 6 is staying for the biscuit-buttery pads.

Re: Retro Space Fantasy Feature Film hiring a Synth Composer

So, if the composer is allowed to make a library of moods and sketches based on actual scenes and if the composer is able to make up a library like that within one or two weeks, then the $3000 is fair. Obviously, such a library would have to be made with film in mind, so it needs to have plenty o' ...

Re: Retro Space Fantasy Feature Film hiring a Synth Composer

That's pretty much what I thought. This would be something for a hobbyist who doesn't have to make a living from his music but generates enough cashflow through other channels 60 minutes is a lot of work for $3000. That's, what, a solid 1-2 months work for professional work. Does that include mixin...

Re: Original Arp Odyssey question

It also seems to do this with PWM on the keyboard version. However, I've been struggling to find a musical situation where this would matter to be a deal breaker. NB. There's CV, gate and trig IN sockets on the back of Korg's ARP Odyssey. That makes it perfectly possibly to change oscillator pitch w...

So Norway does not suffer the McCartneys? Class. Yet another reason to move there.

Re: Novation Ultranova is surprisingly cool

Interesting find! I've often wondered about the UltraNova. I've squeezed out as much as I can out of my Novation KS4 over the years, it'd be nice to try something new. Do you get any grounding issues with the USB?

Re: cool synth videos Joe Zawinul synthesizer set

Quite! He has said in interviews that it is much easier for a classically trained pianist to play ultrafast/shred on a synth keyboard because they are more used to heavy hammering action, so moving over to a synth keyboard is like playing feathers in comparison. Like, jump to around 2 minutes in th...

Re: Your lifelong equipment list

I don't think it's "looking in the wrong place" to find my desire for vintage satiated by vintage. :) As far as modern analog goes, I like it, and it's very nice. It's my job to work with it. Impressively short answer there, Marc. Does resurrected vintage count as vintage? I gather a few subtle twe...
