Re: Is it worth 300€ for Roland Alpha Juno 2?

It could be worth it, but if you really don't like programming, it could be a gamble since you might find out you really don't like programming, though you might find out its just what you were hoping it would be. Incidently, I can vouch for the JP-08 boutique if you were considering that as an opti...

Re: MPC1000 and Yamaha TG33

Did you use the copy function at all by chance, and accidentally copy one extra beat at the end if the sequence? It's easier to do than it seems on the mpc-1000. Or if you're using more than one sequence, did you make sure the tempo is set the same for both? Each one has its own tempo that defaults ...

Re: Anyone ever used the M1 sequencer?

I have one, and use it - it's fun, but get ready to adopt a linear work flow, not a loop based workflow. You can create and save small patterns and layer them loop style, but there is a slight delay if you use the sequencer's loop function, so having an 8 bar loop that keeps replaying as you add and...

Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??

I'm not sure about the qx-80, but it's easy to make a song with the QX3. And they're cheap! You're not really escaping 1987 though... The RS7000 seems to have a great sequencer too, but I'm not sure if it's more pattern oriented. The QX3 is very much the opposite of a groove box. It's for whole song...

Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!

Remember when synth companies were able to come up with cool, original names for their synths? Rev 2 was already in use to talk about the prophet 5 Rev 2. Now you have to specify whether you're talking about the prophet 5 Rev 2, or the new rev 2, which is confusing. It sounds like it was named by a ...

Re: Looking for Hardware Midi Sequencer, maybe Yamaha QY

I'm a big fan of the QX-3. Features, work flow, UI, etc is all great. Maybe the QY is great too, no idea. The MC-500 can be extremely meticulous, but not in edit mode. It has a special mode dedicated to precise editing called microscope mode. You can download the manual and check out the features. J...

Re: Korg Wavestation EX vs. DX7

Wavestation SRs are really cheap if you wanted to get the best of both worlds... but then there are always those rack editions that feature oodles of DX7s in a tiny rack for dirt cheap. But they're both classic digital synths! Both synths will do what you want, but of course wierd metallic percussio...

Re: TR-909 - weird, attached, power cable

That's not the JSQ-60's power cord, it's the dcb connection that transfers note information to the Synth. The JSQ takes a 500ma wall wart like many of the TR'S

Re: Expertise needed on finding a Synth

If you're looking for a workhorse, I don't know if vintage analog is going to be the best choice. I relatively modern VA with a good keyboard is probably going to be your best bet. You need a synth with at least two envelops, and basic velocity assignment and performance controls to recreate that pa...

Re: Really trying to figure out the synths in these songs

Keep in mind, if any of these musicians owned more than one piece if gear, you could be hearing layers of different synths on top of each other, plus effects to create a unique sound. If you can clearly hear very distinctive elements of multiple synths in the same sound, you might actually be hearin...

An additional note to try to figure out if it actually is the scsi thing, I have 5 other samplers that use the same disks and drives, and they all work reliably.
