Re: Help with drum machine choice
Mac vs PC plays no role. Its probably coming down to how powerful and dedicated your computer is, and what else is running and taking up resources. What you need to do is "print" the rhytm you wrote and use that instead of trying to play the whole thing using your cpu. What that means, is that you w...

Re: Advice for a pianist interested in making electronic mus
I think if you love the sound of the Montage, it might be a good idea to go for it. Is that what your gut is telling you you to go with? Remember, you can always buy a sequencer or even use your computer or a tablet or something with a little interface for that if you really want something complex. ...

Re: Advice for a pianist interested in making electronic mus
As madtheory pointed out, there are some specific cases where the general observation I made about workstations doesn't apply - the Kronos probably being one of the strongest examples. Why don't you look into it? Also, don't forget about the V-synth! Just speaking for me, a computer with software an...

Re: Advice for a pianist interested in making electronic mus
I agree with Madtheory here. I would get a decent controller, or fix the one you have, and then fill a nice rack with a variety of quality rack synths, or other pieces you can control, like the mini-clone. I don't want to neccesarily steer you away from workstations if that's what you're excited abo...

Sell: SR-16 Roland M BD-1 " xv3080 " SC 55 Kawai XS-1 E-mu ESI-32 Yamaha SY-22 Roland D70 At least 1 DSS-1 Akai Moniak - This is based on the descriptions you wrote for each piece. If you really have to get rid of them, don't over think it. It's like ripping off a bandaid. If you get caught up with...

Re: Is it worth 300€ for Roland Alpha Juno 2?
It could be worth it, but if you really don't like programming, it could be a gamble since you might find out you really don't like programming, though you might find out its just what you were hoping it would be. Incidently, I can vouch for the JP-08 boutique if you were considering that as an opti...

Re: MPC1000 and Yamaha TG33
Did you use the copy function at all by chance, and accidentally copy one extra beat at the end if the sequence? It's easier to do than it seems on the mpc-1000. Or if you're using more than one sequence, did you make sure the tempo is set the same for both? Each one has its own tempo that defaults ...

Re: Anyone ever used the M1 sequencer?
I have one, and use it - it's fun, but get ready to adopt a linear work flow, not a loop based workflow. You can create and save small patterns and layer them loop style, but there is a slight delay if you use the sequencer's loop function, so having an 8 bar loop that keeps replaying as you add and...

Re: Future sequencer replacement - MMT8 to Command Station??
I'm not sure about the qx-80, but it's easy to make a song with the QX3. And they're cheap! You're not really escaping 1987 though... The RS7000 seems to have a great sequencer too, but I'm not sure if it's more pattern oriented. The QX3 is very much the opposite of a groove box. It's for whole song...

Re: DSI Announces New REV2 16-Voice Analog Poly Synth!
Remember when synth companies were able to come up with cool, original names for their synths? Rev 2 was already in use to talk about the prophet 5 Rev 2. Now you have to specify whether you're talking about the prophet 5 Rev 2, or the new rev 2, which is confusing. It sounds like it was named by a ...

Re: Looking for Hardware Midi Sequencer, maybe Yamaha QY
I'm a big fan of the QX-3. Features, work flow, UI, etc is all great. Maybe the QY is great too, no idea. The MC-500 can be extremely meticulous, but not in edit mode. It has a special mode dedicated to precise editing called microscope mode. You can download the manual and check out the features. J...

Re: Korg Wavestation EX vs. DX7
Wavestation SRs are really cheap if you wanted to get the best of both worlds... but then there are always those rack editions that feature oodles of DX7s in a tiny rack for dirt cheap. But they're both classic digital synths! Both synths will do what you want, but of course wierd metallic percussio...
