Re: Help - analog synth recording advice needed!

fantastic planet is exacly the style of music that i'm getting into at the moment, and i had no idea din existed. if i were british i would be saying "cheers" now. there's definitly a chorus effect or something going on in the background of the original that shouldn't be too hard to add or augment i...

Re: Help - analog synth recording advice needed!

solderman this is all extremely useful, thanks! the motu looks like a very impressive piece of gear. now, with rms in mind, to impliment some of these ideas. you know i used to write with only one synthesizer: the korg radias, and record one track at a time and then make adjustments and what not. no...

Re: Help - analog synth recording advice needed!

forget it. always looks like a big block on "pro" cds. RMS is the key, not db. rms huh? could you elaborate on this? does your mixer have Direct Outs or a bus for each input i'm going to say direct outs. the back of the mixer has analog inputs, and then a CR out(l&r)which goes to my moniters and a ...

Re: Help - analog synth recording advice needed!

lol, looks like I offended some waves users! classic. I really like my waves bundle to be honest, and i was actually just joking! but hey, as long as i can ruffle a few feathers now and then...right? but back to the issue at hand, stabby your right: it seems like the modern approach is to recor...

Help - analog synth recording advice needed!

ok, so, i have a bunch of synthesizers, mostly analog, a mixer, an interface, and some software. everything i need to happen in the song can hapen in real time. so the question is: is it better to eq it on my hardware, and record one track in the software, and then master that as well as possible wi...

Re: Best DAW on PC?

magix samplitude 10 ( i think there's another one out by now) is pretty extensive in terms of getting your song to sound as good as it can, especially if you don't have mastering hardware. plus you can burn the song directly to a cd in the software and edit all of the information, work with rediculo...

Re: laptop suggestions for mixing

i'm not sure about the ghz thing, but personally i use a rain livebook studio. it was a bit pricy, but it's way better then the dell inspiron 8600 that i had before it. it has firewire, 4 usb ports, a line in and headphones out, and some other ports that i'm not familiar with. the fans are almost si...

SH-101 with 808 or 303 with 909

the choice is between a combo of either an sh-101 with an 808, or a 303 with a 909. which would you choose and why?

Re: JX-8P v Juno-60

i have 2 juno-60's and a jx-8p, and to me they don't seem to be competing with each other for anything. you can't really get the same type of trance like throbing basslines from the juno that you can get on the jx, and the modwheel on the jx is superior, but there's nothing on the jx that can really...

Re: Rank your pitch bend / mod wheels

JX-8p - !!!!!!! incredible. i couldn't immagine a better pitch bender for this synth. very inspirational essential for bass lines imo. push it up and it does vibrato! korg radias - broke, but fun before it broke juno 60 - definitly not as good as the jx-8p, but not bad. access virus - meh - cool but...

Re: tempo syncing w/ Roland JX-3P and Korg Electribe ER-1

i have a similar problem - i have a roland jsq 60 that i'm trying to sync to the tempo of an access virus and some other synths. i've tried syncing it by ear and then going into cubase and polishing it up, but the phrases still drift out of time. i also tried recording it with ableton and having abl...
