Re: SD memory class/speed difference with Korg or other gear

The DP32SD is picky about some SD cards. If you use a card that's not supported, like I'm doing with one of mine, you occasionally get recording errors and have to do the take again. Could be a nightmare if you're trying to capture a performance! I have no idea if the issue is related to the card's ...

Re: Why You post music? AND to Youtube mainly? Out of curios

https://youtu.be/GBN4qbbNGpw Check our how many times the same melody changes in this Astral Projection / Trilithon collaboration. Each time they play what is essentially the same melody again harmonized to a different chord, it sounds like a whole new part, and the same phrase stays interesting th...

Re: Why You post music? AND to Youtube mainly? Out of curios

What I try to achieve is something out of the most common pop/rock music intro-verse-chorus-verse-chorus-bridge-chorus-chorus, but while still well listenable catchy melodies. But if I take that verse-chorus-verse-chorus structure as a "template" to follow for my tunes, and some strict rules, then ...

Re: One synth songs

Can the drums come from a different source or is that cheating? Cheating! For my 1 synth competition entry, I used the JX-8P to create every drum sound from scratch. The only non JX-8P equipment was the effects processer doing basic reverb/ delay, the sequencer playing it, and the Akai s2000 I used...

Re: First Synth: Korg MS-20 Mini vs Roland Boutique Synth

+1 for the JP-08. You can do so much more with the addition of chords, pads, and other polyphonic synth sounds than you would be able to do starting out with a mono synth. The JP-08 really gives you a nice combination of versatility and quality in a small affordable package. It very well could be th...

Re: noob's gear setup

Slaving the SQ-1 to things is a bear, since it doesn't have midi in. I've had mixed experiences using it with the USB connection as well, and if you're sending a trigger from a drum machine or sequencer to sync it, make sure the tempo is playing for at least one bar before pressing play, or it will ...

Re: Sound Engineering Techniques for Dance Music

So taking all this in account how did Orbital manage to get away with recording Chime on their dad's cassette deck? It was a different era then, with different expectations for how a finished product should sound, and / or, proper use of texture. The move towards clean, separated, hi fi sounding da...

exposure and views, yes... but what I need is advice about DEVELOPMENT of SKILLS! That's what those channels never give really. The number of views really tell nothing about HOW to improve. You're not going to get that kind of advice from random people on YouTube, unfortunately. Post something here...

Re: Why You post music? AND to Youtube mainly? Out of curios

I loved hearing the songs people posted from here in the various competitions. I can't listen to modern music on the radio without cringing, but I can listen to modern music made by you guys. I have my own music, some that I've posted on various sites, but nothing recently, though there are more tra...

Re: Buying my first synth, a VA roland synth - needs advice

Use the site's search function to get more tips on what to look for when you're testing a Synth. You need some familiarity with how a synth works, but basically you want to spend some time at each section of the synth, making sure the controls are changing the sound, where appropriate. Don't be afra...

Re: S2800 sampling input trouble. help (sanity check)

Sp/dif is a type of digital input. You need to play a sound from something with an sp/dif out, like a sound card, or a synth such as the access virus ti. If you go into the sample section of the sampler, where the input says analog, you can scroll over to it and change it to digital, wich will show ...

Re: Uli Behringer's deeply concerning post

Uli discrediting Moog is like Suzuki discrediting Mercedes Benz: at the end of the day, people are still going to want that 500SL, and will still be willing to pay a little extra just to be associated with the brand. just a little sidenote -- Suzuki is very wellknown for a worlds fastest motorcycle...
