Re: Akai AX80 Power Problems
Mark didn't have the service manual; transanalog's price is $30. I'll give it a week for someone to chime in, then bite the bullet and buy it.

Akai AX80 Power Problems
I purchased a non-powering AX80 a while ago to fix up, but haven't had any luck finding the right resources to do so since. I can't seem to find a service manual(thought I had one on an old hd), maybe I'll have to buy one? I have the owner's manual but theres nothing in it pertaining to schematics o...

Re: A Daft Punk "How'd they make that sound?" Thread
not really on topic(human after all), but other gear they used(on discovery) was the vp-9000. i mainly used it for vocal chops and formant stuff when i owned it. i'm noticing certain-patterns when it comes to that duo.

Re: An1x V Maudio Venom
(original msrp): cs1x $799.95, an1x £899, venom $599.95 i know the cs1x is not a virtual analog. i'm not trying to get off topic or unjustly bash synths, i'm only trying to relay my experience to you. in all fairness as garranimal has said, the venom needs a computer to really get things dialed in. ...

Re: Please help on deciding on my first hardware synth
not new but useful virtual analog(v/a) polyphonic hardware(that can also do great analogish bass for around $500): ax80(vintage) mopho or desktop evolver(rack) virus(rack a,b,c, one of the most versatile synths ever, but NOT analog) nord (rack) Mopho is analog, baby. Oops! I wrote in Mopho as an af...

Re: An1x V Maudio Venom
I posted enthusiastically about the venom in a thread here when it first came out. SInce then, I've had time to sit down with one and i'm kind of embarrassed and unsure as to what it was about it I ever was attracted to. I had and sold a cs1x recently i would have kept but for space; that might be c...

Re: Please help on deciding on my first hardware synth
for a first synth it would be advisable to stay away from vintage for mechanical and monetary reasons. my advice is to stay away from vintage until it finds you: if you find something at a garage sale, craigslist, or forum at a good price point, do it, but don't let your lust for gear get the best o...

Re: Elektron Machinedrum, Personal Experiences?
as far as the build quality goes: the md does not feel cheap. it feels like its military issue; like it could have come out of a wooden crate with straw in it. the buttons feel nice and can take enthusiastic sequencing(smashing). the screen is well lit with nice contrast. the encoders used to tweak ...

Re: How far out of your way have you gone to get a synth?
Atlanta to Mississippi to pick up an ax80 and cs01. The seller had somewhere to be the next day and was going on a trip the day after that, so I had a small window to get the synth from him before I'd have to wait even longer to get my hands on an ax80. My girlfriend and I hopped in the car at like ...

Re: Elektron Machinedrum, Personal Experiences?
had a uw mk1 and sold it to buy a little phatty: go with the uw. machinedrum is the deepest drum machine(and only drum synthesizer)i've ever had the pleasure to play. there's tons of parameters to totally mangle your samples/program your patches. it can cover a variety of timbres and ruff summed it ...
