Re: just me? or do youtube demos all suck

Don't like the retrosound demo's, but the Japanese guy rocks.

I love his JD-800 demo where he says, "SuperSaw."

"hes the one who convinced me to get my JP8000"

Me too. Vintage synth pusher, he is.

Re: Will FM ever be sought after ???

I expect the reason Yamaha went with an AWM engine in the SY77/99 was to try to mellow out the perceived shrillness or whatever you want to call the cause of listening-fatigue for some. I have the SY99 and love its crisp tones (probably because it breaks through the tinnitus). You can't get some of ...

Price Check: Mint OB-XA

Ok, in my quest for things Oberheim, I'm in communication with a guy that wants to sell a mint OB-XA 8-voice with a JL Cooper midi kit installed. It really does look great in the photos. Any thoughts on the going price for this synth? I think what he's asking is about 10% high (even for mint conditi...

Wot's The Snappiest Synth - Bang -> Zoom

So what is really the snappiest, true analog, vintage polyphonic synth out there that can be actually be found and afforded?

Prophet 5?
OB-Xa?
Jupiter 6/8?
Memorymoog?

I want something that will go Snap, Pow!

Tired of my slow, microprocessor controlled analogs.

Ok, thanks for the verification.

JP-8000 : Power-On Question

Question for JP-8000 owners. Just bought one off eBay. When powering the unit on, do you get a solid green bar across the top half of the display and a quick flash of all led's just before "Roland JP-8000" shows up? Mine does, and when the led's flash I get a healthy >snap< in the outputs if the vol...

Re: Your thoughts about rompler synthesis

When I first joined VSE a couple of years ago, it seemed pretty apparent to me that most people felt this should be the Vintage Analog Synth Explorer website, as most of the love was in that direction. Anyone showing affection for FM or rom-based synthesis was generally sneered at (with a few except...

Re: JD-800 I need convincing

Sorry to revive an over-year-old thread, but I couldn't let this one go! In the previous discussion about noise or distortion as the sound is fading out on the JD-800, the following was written: b3groover: "It manifests itself as sound breaking up as the signal level decreases (a granular type of so...

Re: Message For Prophet T8 Owners

Hello again and thanks Ron for letting me know about knloan's post. Not sure what the problem is with the prophet forum, I thought it was all public. It's not a very active bunch I'll admit. Try this link (also updated above): http://prophet08.com/viewtopic.php?t=524 I used to visit and post a lot o...

Re: Poll: Who's the best synth manufacturer.

Roland really need to start making products for actual professionals again and stop f**k around with all this consumer orientated s**t. +1 Thanks for voting everyone. Surprising results to me, but that's where the fun is on this site. I think Yamaha builds the most consistently pro gear; if you've ...
