Re: D-50 Plastic Key Guard

They aren't plastic, more of a thin-pressed translucent felt. Well, I suppose the material probably is a plastic filament of some sort, but it's more like a thin liner material for clothing or drapes. When I reworked my D-50 several years back I got replacements from Rob Senso at Vintage Planet but ...

Re: ESQ-1 AA battery mod- best AA battery to use?

The typical lithium cells you can buy in retail stores are better suited for applications that have a high drain demand followed by a recovery period like a camera flash, toys, etc. and are not the same as lithium coin cells. The alkalines are good for slow drain applications and will outperform lit...

Add the Lexicon 224XL memory option board to the danger list for ni-cads with a charge circuit. Has 3 AA with solder tabs.

Re: JD-990 wants to factory reset itself periodically?

Does it look like the original ROM chip? What version is it running?

Kind of a stretch, but maybe a bad burn job or on someone's part.

Re: DX7 Ground Noise

Don't know if this might help, but I had 60 Hz hum on all outputs like that in an SY99 when the display back light connection didn't have a solid ground. It happened when I was working on it though, not just suddenly on its own.

Just a thought.

Yamaha CS-40M - Factory Patches?

Working on a CS-40M.

The unit originally came with a cassette of the factory patches for loading in the usual manner.

Anyone happen to have a wav file of the originals?

TIA!

Yo stf! Good to hear from you. Still using the MKS-70. I had a Prophet 12 for a while and do regret giving it up. Lots of potential there, just a little too brittle for me in the end. I do love my Prophet 6 though... Just snagged that inop Rhodes Chroma off eBay, looking forward to digging into it w...

Re: Which synth was your first love or lighted your G.A.S. ?

They're all wonderful, but still looking for the one synth that truly sets me ablaze. If Dave Smith were to make a 24-voice, fully-analog synth with (12) Prophet-6 voices and (12) OB-6 voices incorporated inside a hammer-action poly aftertouch case that looked and played like the Prophet T-8 and it ...

Re: Roland JX8P no sound

Check audio out at TP5. If it sounds fine there, it's something in the effects section, filter, limiter or output op amps.

If it sounds the same, it's in the synth engine proper.

EDIT: Oops, sorry, I see you already did that.

Re: Need advice on a good soldering station

The Weller WESD51 is an industry-standard workhorse.

Digital display of temperature, good quality, not too expensive. Had one for years.

Around $140 at Home Depot.
