Re: JP8080 acting unpredictably - any suggestions?

If you're getting nasty sounds, for the JP-8000 replace capacitor C219 with a Panasonic p/n EEE-HA1E220WR.

I can repair it here in Ohio if interested. Not familiar with the ghost edit issue, but sounds pretty easy to fix as well.

That photo just officially degassed me for a CS-80.

Prophet 5 - Firmware Checksums?

Debugging a Prophet 5 and would like to make sure the V.10.5 code stored on the EPROMs is correct.

Can anyone tell me checksum values for the 10.5.0 and 10.5.1 chips?

TIA!

 Yes it plays great, my favorite. I also have Joust, and a PacMan for the ladies.

Got rid of the Stargate and Asteroids and used the cash to help fund a Prophet 6.

Re: SCI Prophet VS ROMs

I don't recall having any go bad in synths, but I have had some go bad in early video arcade games from the late '70's and early '80's, the full-size ones, like you'd find in a bar. One Tempest machine I still have had 3 or 4 go bad, so it can happen. At the time I didn't have an eraser or programme...

This.

I suppose Van Halen's Jump and the OB-Xa is too easy...

Eddie Jobson's use of the CS-80 the the Alaska track is pretty iconic to synth nerds.

Solved: Noisy JX-8P Outputs

For the archives... Bought a nice JX-8P with noisy, garbled, crackling outputs. All six voices were working, but lots of snaps and pops especially on certain patches. None of the patches sounded right, everything sounded "in the background" with white noise on top of it; some voices were faint, othe...

Re: Yamaha Montage synthesizer --- with FM engine!

It was pretty much tongue-in-cheek for me. Those who read my posts know I never go off like that on people OR synths. And honestly I would looove to have a Yamaha CS80. Probably will someday. But they've like doubled in price in the past five years; they used to be $10,000 or $12,000, now ...

Re: Yamaha Montage synthesizer --- with FM engine!

Doesn't have the 3D warmth and ballsiness and sheer rugged manliness of a Yahama CD-80. Now if they would just reissue that synth for $499 dollars with modern built in FX and USB capabilities they'd surely be a more successful company! Nobody wants that old c**p. What are you going to do, sit aroun...
