Re: What are some good soft samplers?

Kontakt is the big boy of the moment, there's loads of libraries for it... As Kontakt 4 has just come out, you should be able to find Kontakt 3 at lower prices as retailers will want to clear their shelves... Still, It'll probably be a bit more than $200.

Re: Chicken Systems Translator - Anyone use it ?

Chicken$h!t stuff tends not to be thought of very highly amongst those I know.

Ok so format conversion is rarely 100% but chicken$h!t stuff gets a bit of a bad press.

Take a look at Extreme sample translator or if you're on a Mac, CDXtract.

Re: Will the Waldorf Stromberg ever emerge into the daylight ?

I think the inclusion of using samples like the Nord Wave would be a no brainer and severely up it's value and power. I'm pretty sure that it's basically supposed to be a Blofeld on steroids so sampling/samples will almost certainly be on board. analog filters Only with the filter module I think. O...

Re: What Was the Most Organic Sounding Synth Ever Released?

If you want truly organic, get something made of wood and/or metal without the electronics, synths are SYNTHetic by their very nature. That said, some do sound gorgeous... In the case of the FS1R and K5000, both can create sounds unlike anything you have ever heard in the 'real' world but still soun...

Re: looking for the synth responsible for this sound...

Any one of a multitude of synths could have created that sound... I'm sure that at least three of my synths have something pretty close as a preset... It sounds a bit Virus like to me, almost definately digital. Supersaw? Try recreating it yourself... I'd guess a couple of saws (or more) and detuned...

Re: Rack Analogs/Hybrids with MIDI real-time ctrl

Like filter stepping? Low resolution CC's? yes. please accept my apologies for the non-technical terminology :D a lot of design issues can cause the problem. Like Hageir mentioned, low resolution midi data is probably the most frequent cause. Lack of processing power can also compound the problem. ...

Re: What Vintage Synth Would You Like to See Back in Production?

64 poly is useless on this machine. Don't forget the time it was built, until the EX series, the highest polyphony you could get on any other synth was just 64 notes... Most others only had 32. The EX5 and EX5R were the first synths to have 128 note poly. The EX from Yamaha, are digital monsters. I...

Re: If analog synths were being produced today...

A few facts... Since the 'software revolution', the bottom has fallen out of the hardware synth market. This is why the technology in digital synths from the large manufacturers has barely moved on since the mid-late 90's... It's simply not viable for them to develop that many new things. To illustr...

I'm still trying to get a decent sample of a duck fart though, that's the holy grail for me! tsk, tsk. a nun's queef would be mine. Haha! Nice! I'll trade you if we manage to get them! I've recently tried doing a bit of sampling with an electromagnetic pick-up usually used for recording phone conve...

Re: Will the Waldorf Stromberg ever emerge into the daylight ?

Unfortunately, we all seem to be beta testers these days. Does anyone remember the Virus TI when it first came out, the 'TI' bit wasn't working... That's just one of many many things. I can't think of a single synth released in recent years that hasn't had a few bugs when it was first released. It's...
