Re: Internal Card reader that works with the Kurzweil K2000R?

Yup, SCSI for samplers is pretty much the only place no matter where you are in the world... Unless you wanted to risk making/building a reader for yourself.

And the prices ain't that bad really.

You and me both! I love the ARP sound.

Some of the old EMS stuff would be nice... oh... hold on... you can still buy those!

Re: Matching loops

Trying to make 'm go in sync by just leaving it to the sample looping engine simply will not work. Unless you actually cut the loops to precisely the same length. I'm not familiar with the 404 but most samplers have a loop length or sample length readout of some sort, if both loops are cut to exact...

Re: waveform looping

Infinity is a wave editor just for looping. Like I said, nothing like it. User might not want to buy a specific computer to use an outdated platform for an unsupported program. ;) That aside, everybody that is going to seriously sample should learn how to loop their own. Hmmm, the friend of mine wh...

Re: waveform looping

Nothing gets a loop as smooth as Infinity. I've yet to find anything else like it, but would love to!! Tha Akai S5/6000 are reputed to be pretty good at that I think... Still not as good as Infinity though. A friend of mine is getting fed up because Infinity hasn't been updated for ages and is stil...

Re: inverted vcf keyboard tracking?

Many digitals (hybrid, VA or ROMpler) allow negative key tracking. The ESQ-1 was the earliest I know of (1986)...you can even route this to osc pitch and effectively reverse the keyboard!!! I'm not 100% sure about my K5000s (I think it can but don't take my word for it) but all my other synths can ...

Re: rank your synths/controllers by key feel

Kawai K5000s (semi-weighted and absolutely lovely!) Yamaha EX7 (Close to the K5000s action... un-weighted but heavier than some modern semi-weighted actions... very solid/reassuring.) Alesis Andromeda (semi-weighted, nice and responsive but feels a little flimsy in comparison to the others.) They're...

Re: Synths midi reaction time constant?

There is also the factor of jitter coming from a computer sequencer itself. I can't remember whether it was on the SoS forums or in a recent issue of the magazine but it was clearly stated that audio buffer sizes do have an effect on MIDI data... Basically, if you have a big buffer, you'll get more ...

damn Vimeo won't even play on my computer, so frustrating... someone post it youtube? If it's just glitchy, hit play then hit pause straight after. Wait a minute or two for it to buffer up (or open task manager and view your network thingemybob and wait till activity drops back down to zero) then o...

Re: New DSI Prophet '08 POT EDITION

what i hate most about encoders it that it takes about 3 turns to sweep through the whole range. why doesnt anyone produce encoders that take 1 round for the whole range? Rotary encoders work by having two switches, when you turn one way one switch closes and then the other one does, turn it the ot...
