My apologies, I misunderstood what you were asking.

Re: New DSI Prophet '08 POT EDITION

I think most modern synths with pots jump to the parameter the pot is currently on when you start turning it. Fortunately you have the screen to see both where it currently is and where it was originally. I think most modern synths have the ability for you to choose the knob action (ooh-err missus!...

Re: Polyphonic aftertouch?

That's sad as the Kurzweil midiboard is arguably the best poly AT controller around. It also has release velocity which is rarer than hen's teeth. The Alesis Fusion has release velocity, I'm not 100% sure but I think the Andromeda does too. RV isn't the most useful of things but it's nice to have i...

Indeed!

I nearly put down a small list of manufacturers I know of that use them.

Re: READ THIS if you're looking at choosing a new synth!

Hello is this thread still open?? I'm stuck between a MM6 & a x 50.. I'll post the questions I saw on the first page here. snip! oh, i also need a 61 keys, and pref not a heavy heavy synth... so i can carry it around. i'm torn between mm6 & x50... i heard mm6 is more geared towards classical-ish an...

Re: New DSI Prophet '08 POT EDITION

Is there something speacial about Clavia's encoder LED rings or something? I'm just asking because there's quite a bit of gear out there with LED ringed encoders... Or does their patent apply to synthesisers only?

Re: Which Synth Had The Worst User Interface Ever?

Almost any synth that only shows info on a big lcd screen without having hardware controls is hard to use, because it forces you to navigate on menus.... But if somebody here has owned a YAMAHA EX5, will know what I'm talking about. EX5 is the winner!!!!! I have an EX7 which is more or less the sam...

Re: Whats beyond the DX7?

Personally, I find algorithms restrictive... You have to choose it before you even start making a sound, that's counter intuitive to me. Then if you decide that what you're doing is half way there but you need to change the algorithm to get the rest of it to work how you want, you have to start all ...

Same here. I just wish that those on synths had a ring of LEDs around them to show their approximate position.

Re: wich samplers does load .wav live?

how do you guys do trance, techno or what ever without stopping? I don't do trance or techno stuff but some of my tracks are incredibly long and many flow from one to the other. In my case, it's all down to painstaking preperation... Setting up multi's in advance and having them set out so that I c...

Re: Whats beyond the DX7?

Yeah, the Fusion has just six operators but they are freely routable (no fixed algorithms) and do allow a number of waveforms to be used including noise. As a side note to FM, the Fusion is the only hardware synth which can use FM in it's sample engine IIRC... As in actually frequency modulating sam...

Re: My first synthesizer.

Probably the most important thing I can say is, don't go for something mega powerful as a first synth... You'll very quickly find yourself well out of your depth... As I and others saw on an Alesis Fusion forum... The Fusion is a hugely powerful and incredibly flexible synth but due to bad marketing...

Also, he sold a massive amount of stuff on ebay UK... There was quite a buzz on some UK forums for a while... Very little of his gear was shipped over to the US.
