Re: AKG C12B Market Value?

Try logging into ebay, searching for them then (low on the left sidebar menu) click on the "completed listings" button. It'll show you how much they have sold for recently.

Re: How fast are your tracks?

Most of mine are in the 80-110 bpm range, some are as low as about 50-55, others as high as 180-190.

Re: Dealing With Prophet 5 Midi and OS X

The normal start message for a patch is '0xF0'. The normal end message is '0xF7' IIRC. I don't have a Mac (or a Prophet) but with MIDI-OX, you have a sysex editor in which these messages (0xF0 and 0xF7) are highlighted in red. Normally, when patches are transferred, they are transferred one after th...

Re: wich samplers does load .wav live?

Any sampler made from the late 90's onwards should load WAV files but live resampling? I don't think many will support that... I know the Korg KP3 does though... It's designed for live use. As for working like regular samplers, I don't believe that all of the MPC series support chromatic multisample...

Re: Two synths of the same make sounding different?

I've read that even two Prophet 5's made one after the other and tested immediately while still brand new could sound slightly different. That's the nature of analogue components though. All those components are made to a tolerance. Put alot of components into a circuit and all those tiny variations...

Re: wow...software through hardware

It depends on the synth in question, some synths like most Moogs, the Alesis Andromeda and a number of more recent digital synths (Alesis Fusion, V-synth) have external audio inputs which can be used to process live audio. Many other synths do not. You may be able to modify some (analogue) synths to...

I find it time consuming but not at all difficult... The menu system is very logical IMO... I've hardly had to look at the instruction manual at all for it, the same can't be said for most of my other synths!

The FS1R is really bad though.

Re: What synth (s) you own but haven't played for over 1 year

I use all of them (hardware). Sometimes three or four months may go by but I never leave them alone for all that long.

As others have mentioned, software synths are another matter. There's still one or two I use from time to time but mostly, they're left alone.

Re: Are people still using Hardare Samplers?

Many of you are still missing the point - there is LOT more to a vintage hardware sampler than just a set of 8/12bit DACs. Oh yeah, I'm well aware that there's alot more to it than what I mentioned. Going slightly off on a tangent, I still have an Atari ST with Mastersound II sampling software and ...

Re: Which I/O expander to go with? Opinions wanted.

Regarding the ADA vs other converter boxes. In comparison to 10-15 years ago, AD/DA technology has moved on a great deal. The real world difference between budget and top end converters is only a fraction of what it was many years ago. Most users will notice very little (if any) difference, especial...

Re: Are people still using Hardare Samplers?

I only use a software sampler (Emulator X) for sample editing, after that all my samples go into hardware sampling keyboards. As for some of the other posts here regarding 8/12 bit sampling and aliasing etc... While I love my pristine 24 bit stuff, I love the gritty sound of aliased 8/12 bit stuff t...

Re: New Andromedas are here

Wonder if the Fusion could return... I can tell you for a fact that the answer to that is no. Well, not for the foreseeable future anyway. I'm actually surprised that Alesis are re-releasing the Ion after what happened with the Fusion. However, the Ion is a good product which may help bring in a fe...

FS1r?
Or SY/TG series... Perhaps one of the PLG boards?

If it's the FS1R, get ready to start wallpapering through a very small letterbox!
