Re: Alesis Ion: my thoughts

The Ion isn't a modern dance machine. It has more of the attitude of a real analog synth. Then it did meet the design brief that Alesis set out, just a pity that it didn't meet your expectations. That said, be thankful that there is a wide variety of synths out there... Not all VAs are the same so ...

Re: outboard reverb...which?

Since I removed the SCSI card to put in my EX7, I've been using the Yammie A3000 as an effects unit... Some not bad reverbs on it for a cheap bit of gear.

Recommended retail price and street price are two very different things! Sometimes the street price can be less than half of the RRP.

Re: USB Audio Interfaces and Keyboard Stands

I've seen a Tascam US-800 on Dolphin Music for £199 in the sale That is NOT a sale price, that's just the current street price. Anyways, in the £2-300 bracket, there's the following... Re: EII and Fairlight libraries in Wav?

Not free but quite cheap at $25... Vintage samplers from Hollowsun. Covers both Fairlight and Emulator II stuff in Kontakt, EXS24 and S5/6000 formats. Would like to know how this (the EII element) compares to the real thing. Anyone done a side by side comparison? Well, I've not done that but I do k...

Re: Organizing your synths

The ideal solution of course would be to have enough room for everything but not so much gear that it's difficult to use it all. When I eventually get redecorated, my setup is going to be arranged into two 'stations'. One for the computer (sampling/DAW etc) and another for my synths.
