Re: Korg Micro Sampler

Always baffled me as too why korg could never include a proper "attack" envelope function on any of their newer gear, most notably the first generation tribes and the newer ESX and EMX and now the microsampler :?

Re: Hardware Sampler with the most hands-on interface?

So I was reading up on the machinedrum today on elektrons site. I was checking out the specs and it states that you get only 2.5 MB's of ram stock standard in the unit...their is no expansion either. Whats that? Like 22 seconds of sample time!? Man...Thats kind of depressing. I mean the musica...

Re: Favorite synth sounds

FYI: the repeated 8-bar flute line on SHOUT was done on a Fairlight CMI (with lots of echo added) while the bass is a combination of sampled bass sounds mixed with synthesized bass timbres programmed on a Prophet 5. Thats awesome! I always loved listening to that song just for that kick a*s flute s...

Re: Favorite synth sounds

Are there any other Scritti Politti fans on this forum? Wet dreams of Fairlight, DX-7 and TX816! 8) +1000 for mentioning Scritti Politti =D> Cupid & pysche 85 should be a textbook example of synth pop/funk perfection. Fred Maher, Green gartside and David Gamson were a wicked trio!! Their follow up ...

Re: Hardware Sampler with the most hands-on interface?

I hate to sound so biased against other gear...but man, I gotta go with the ESX-1. Tons of hands on goodness for dayz! The Machinedrum UW judging from what Ive read also offers up some bad a*s knob tweakage. ...which is why I soon will own both   I swear I need to get me one...

Re: Roland SP 808EX vs. Akai MPC1000

I hear so many complaints about the SP-808's sequencer. What kind of sequencer does the 808 have? And how does one go about putting together a beat on it?

Just curious

Re: An Electribe ESX1 entered Costa Rica's jungle....

Well, this track belongs to late 2007. This is a live performance at Montezuma beach, Costa Rica, on 2007. 90% of this track was performed with a Electribe ESX1. Acoustic guitars and harmonic pads, belong to a Yamaha EX5. Samples come from multiple sources, since crazy AM radio tuning to "Abre los ...

Re: mpc 500

As far as I know the 500 does not suffer from the same pad problems as the original 1000 did. But from reading up on the 500 it seems that the prongs on the bottom of the machine that are used to install the memory sticks are EXTREMELY sensitive and prone to break easily if too much pressure is appl...

Re: Funk/Soul tracks featuring Oberheim SEM?

Mmmm, Weather Report wasn't a funk or a soul band, but made a very 'black' music...so, it's valid for me to talk about what synth played Joe there. 8) Joe Zawinul was quite the talent wasnt he. I have all of Weather reports albums, but Heavy weather is probably my favorite. Joe really went buckwild...

Re: If you were a synthesizer, which one would you be and why?

A korg MONOPOLY! It looks like something a medieval knight would of designed. The dank contrasting colors, all the knobbage that resembles metal rivets on a weapon, the menacing KORG logo affixed to the top of the interface etc...... If I were a MONOPOLY I would look quite at home tucked away in the...

Re: Korg Micro Sampler

Some of you guys are condescending twats when it comes to "consumer level" gear, it seems like with some of you if an instrument is still in production "it sounds like c**p and its only for poseurs and wannabes". I remember the electribes got a lot of flak from of these same jagoffs about 4 years a...
