Re: Mid-Side Processing

Mid = L + R Side = L - R L = Mid + Side R = Mid - Side I'm trying to see if I'm thinking of this right. Left and right channels are essentially inverted opposites, so that a signal processor like a chorus or phaser applied only to the side channel in entirety would disappear when summed to mono... B...

Re: My new(ish) project: lots of modular + CS-15

Got my copy of the CD a while ago, and I've been listening to it pretty steadily. These tracks really groove for me. I love how it's sparse & repetitive but yet also sounds lush and evolving because of the great synth textures that keep modulating and changing throughout. The reverb you've used is c...

Re: Mid-Side Processing

Sounds pretty interesting. Processing on your demo is nicely subtle, to my ears anyway... ...at one point (not on this recording) the HPF was starting to self-oscillate on the side signal which caused really wide phase effects. Pretty rad. If you get more extreme or heavy handed with processing the ...

Re: Cyclotron - Andromeda + Alchemy

First track... Sounds fantastic. Sounds like it should be the intro track to your next CD. Beautiful contrast & synergy between the lush airy pad and the very analogue bass riff. The track evolves very well with the additional mid-range riff – not sure if that’s sequenced, the timing sounds nicely h...

Re: Nemesis: minimal track by Ensoniq Fizmo

Mmmmmmm... sounds GOOD! The Fiz adds a whole other(worldly) dimension to your sound. I love the textures you're getting from it, and I think you integrate it into your dance tracks beautifully. Great tracks, keep 'em coming.

Balma,
That sounds fantastic. Lunar pad is my favourite, but they're all really well done, quite unique and pretty far out there. I'm eager to hear these patches incorporated into your music.

I'm thinking he meant the plastic ones twist and don't last as long as wood, so go with wood.

Re: What Synth(s) Would You Use for Synthetic Drums?

Recording or sampling found sounds for percussion is always fun. I used to do a lot of this on tape, yes tape, with a razor blade & editing block and, uh.. more tape but the sticky kind, splicing tape. If I can get someone to help me up & find my walker I'll see if I can find my splicing block to sh...

I don't use GB, but googling "midi out garageband" led to this: midiO 1.3. Anybody use this?

That sounds kind of interesting. Any audio or video online of this guy?

Re: Using Velcro with Gear

The gaffer tape I always used to buy from a staging supply place seemed to be identical to duct tape from any hardware store. I never used it on synths, but it could sometimes leave residue on the power cables I taped down with it. I would not trust using it on synths, but are you guys talking about...

Post again once you've had time to investigate your options. I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on whichever systems you try out.

Re: Algorithmic sequencer ??

I agree with Stab. If you want to think differently, your tools don't prevent you from doing so. I appreciate your point, because some tools will promote certain work flows or creation styles (e.g. TB-303, loopers), but that doesn't mean you're restricted to doing those things. If you're using somet...

Re: My new project; modular, evolver + CS-15

I've been out of touch with music for the last 30 years or so I don't know most of what gets mentioned on this board. I do know Boards of Canada though, & I like this stuff better. It has more groove. Plus the synth textures are complex in a subtle way that keeps me listening closely, and are also j...
