Re: My new project; modular, evolver + CS-15

Aaahhhhh....

I don't know if this stuff is some established genre, but to me it sounds like sublime midnight funk at the edge of known space. Man I am loving this.

?Can you make a CD of this stuff available?

Re: FM8 remixes

Wow. They're all great tracks. A few of my favourites: Claire de Lune: just beautiful. Enola Gay: pure nostalgia for me! Girl from Ipanema: oh my f*ck, thank you for that! Just what I needed to cheer me up. Fire Dance: brilliant! Did you not do the Bladerunner theme at one point? I canna find it. :(...

Re: VSE: Time to re-write synth descriptions ...

Well, I know, but it's not as simple as cut&paste, & when it's done, it's way more obvious that it's a snarf job. what the h**l's a snarf job? "http://www.vintagesynth.com/forum/download/file.php?avatar=snarfed_image.jpg" :o ... that it's nicked from elsewhere. Pilfered. Borrowed/stolen without con...

Re: VSE: Time to re-write synth descriptions ...

A few people have mentioned that it's irritating to have their words copy'n'pasted into eBay or other sites. One possible option would be to convert the desriptions into image files.

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

CZ, Thank you for posting those tracks. I'm soaking up Solar Maxima right now. Really really well done. My first synth was the Oberheim two-voice, & when I first went to university, I spent most of my nights in a closet sized studio with my two-voice & my instructor's '69 era Moog modular, so lookin...

Re: Synthquiz

Fun thread. I'm not familiar with the sound of the Chroma, but I'm going to stick my neck out & vote for the CS-80.

Re: What 80s songs can the DX7 Tubular Bells be heard on?

I would also wager that the patch name "Tubular Bells" is an homage to Oldfield's album, since before that came out, nobody outside of orchestral musicians knew what tubular bells were.

Re: What 80s songs can the DX7 Tubular Bells be heard on?

I hope you're just kidding. Oldfield's Tubular Bells came out around 1973, & the DX7 wasn't released until sometime in the early 80's.

Re: The New Tom Oberheim SEM Thread

I also own & love the original two-voice. The two-voice is a unique synth with its idiosyncratic options of being duophonic, duo-timbral or a 4-osc monophonic. Despite being 8-step, the sequencer was duophonic, which made it quite unique in its day. I know there are may different perspectives on thi...

Re: cool little new synth?

There is no reason to apologize! Although balma speaks the truth that a lot of us, me included, do have a tendency to pre-hate new kit by Roland, maybe a good portion of that is because a lot of us, me included, are jaundiced old farts resentful that Roland will never ever make us new analogue Jupit...
