Another Korg Trident Problem...

.. to add to the other one on the board at the moment. The brass section on mine has stopped working, or rather the volume is now hardly audible, you can just about hear a hi-res sweep. The LEDs are still working and I've tried the headphones and individual outs. Also the patch memory has disappeare...

Re: Korg Trident MKI Problem

I can't be of much help, but I can confirm that the Trident Mk1 gets very hot in the general area where the flex is connected, hence the change on the Mk2 as had already been mentioned. From what I've read here and elsewhere that vendor is sound, so surely the best bet is to get in touch with them, ...

Looks good, especially the remote app. However lack of support for 32 bit plug ins doesn't suit me.

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

So what defines cheap? Knobs? Cheap glue? 1/8 jacks? Loose metal banging around on your electronics? Large hands? With the exception of 1/8 jacks and large hands :D, all of the above. My minibrute has none of issues you mention, maybe I got lucky or maybe it's because I waited until long after the ...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

I didn't say the keys themselves were too small to play and even if they were it has midi in. It's that the unit itself feels so cheap, i'd probably get over the size if it felt sturdy. They obviously had to make it so to meet the price point and make the profit they wanted. Personally (if the sound...

Re: Korg MS-20 Mini

I had a good go on one of these today in a store in Dublin. I have to say I was somewhat underwhelmed. For a start it looks like a toy, the 82% (or whatever) reduction really doesn't do it for me. It's also built like one. I know it's relatively cheap, but so is the minibrute and it's anything but t...

Re: s**t Luck With Vintage Gear

As has been mentioned before, if you use vintage gear be prepared for the odd service / repair bill. I had the Juno 106 issue, but it's been 100% since. My alpha juno's blue lcd backlight has died, but I can live with that. Likewise with the sticky buttons on my D50 and SY-85 (which has got serious ...

Re: Roland Juno-106 vs D-50

The D-50 is THE synth sound of 1987, if you like pop music from that time it's could be the one for you. It provided a lot of those leads and pads that sounded so new at the time. It's not good at all for bass though. Programming is impossible (IMHO) without a software editor and even then it's a pa...

I got the email too and thought, what do I want a brass knob for?? (no rude comments please ;), beside last time they offered a free gift (t-shirt I think) it never arrived.

Re: Most abused synths/tones

Certain sounds become popular and used a lot for a reason. I wouldn't say any are overused. For a musical sound that's overused in rock/pop, try something that's been around a lot longer than a synth. An acoustic guitar or a piano! While I've no love for the former I'll never grow tired of the latter!

Re: Midi-CV Gate frustration CS-5 & BassStation Rack

I wouldn't bother buying a new convertor, just open up the CS and fix the CV scaling. It's an easy procedure and the service manual is available online. You just need a screwdriver to do it, and there's only one osc so even if you don't get it spot on you won't have to worry about two oscs going ou...

Re: Midi-CV Gate frustration CS-5 & BassStation Rack

If you were sending V/Oct that is not the behaviour you would get. It would be WAY off, not just a semitone. Sounds like the CS5 CV needs calibrating. Does the Bass Station let you offset the tracking and scaling? I had to do this with all of my CS-5s when I used the Kenton Pro Solo. Works great, n...

Hi, I borrowed the bassstation because it does both. I set it to hz/v for Yamaha/korg as per the manual.

Midi-CV Gate frustration CS-5 & BassStation Rack

I have a CS-5 which I'm trying to control via midi with a BassStation Rack. The note on/off side of things is ok, albeit a little sluggish. However the pitch is another matter. For example, if tune to C4, it will gradually be out of tune as I go up the keyboard, C2 will be a semitone out. If I play ...
