Re: John Foxx - CR-78, Odyssey

great video, but Benge sounds like a complete tosser. It's Mowg you twat. Steady on, as Foxx said, it's mOOg in this part of the world! That seemed to be the obvious pronunciation back in the day, until the internet eventually set the record straight. However, for me (and plenty of others it would ...

I don't see many people complaining about $2000 for an MPC-5000. :)
I wouldn't pay $2000 for one of those either! :)

Going by the video, it sounds good and looks good, but the price is crazy!

Re: What was the most expensive Synth you ever bought?

The Yamaha SY85. It was £1650 Irish new in 1992, that's the equivalent of €2128. That was a lot of cash back then, I saved for a quite a while, originally for a Korg T3 or 01Wfd, but they were both over £2000, so I'd probably never have got there! They were all probably 30% or so cheaper in the UK o...

Re: best semi weighted synth keybed

I really enjoy the action of a three and a half year old thread being bumped. Well we weren't all here back then! :) Back to the thread... I really liked the Virus Ti too, but settled for the desktop as I couldn't justify spending the extra €900 or so. I see the DX7 has a few mentions, it's good, I...

Re: ELO Time turns 30 in 2011!

Great stuff indeed and by no means the only album of note (from a synth point of view) that will be 30 this year.

Re: 2 songs, which is better?

but what's the point? what are you trying to do with the music. Is this supposed to be dance music or what? Why does it have to be a particular type of music, must everything fit neatly in a certain category? I much prefer the first one, especially once it gets going around half way in. I like it, ...

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)

Stab Frenzy got it spot on imo on the other post..It's all in the production, it's got nothing to do with the synths used... That's some statement! I'm probably taking this too literally, but I'm sure it has something to do with the synths used, generic sounding or otherwise. You can't produce a sy...

Re: La Roux's "Bulletproof" (What synths?)

OP: The sounds in that song are nothing special, it doesn't really matter what made them. That kind of music isn't about having great sounds, it's about having a haircut and a marketing budget. If you want to make music like that maybe buy a microkorg and just learn how to play it. Write a catchy t...
